After closing out the regular season with a 46-21 win over the Eldon Mustangs in Week 9 at Gene Reagan Field, Boonville Pirates football coach Greg Hough was already looking ahead to the matchup against Versailles Tigers in the opening round of the Class 3 District 4 Playoffs.Although the Pirates recently defeated Versailles 61-0 in Week 8 of the season at Gene Reagan Field in Boonville, Hough said he didn’t want anybody to forget what happened in 2022 when Versailles knocked off Boonville 21-20.The Pirates are currently 5-1 against Versailles since 2018.“Half of the teams in the district playoffs will be going home after Friday and we don’t want to be one of those teams,” Hough said.
The Boonville Pirates soccer team wanted nothing more than to give the seniors their first win of the season Tuesday night against Smith-Cotton at the Boonville City Soccer Fields.Although the Tigers had a full squad for both the varsity and JV team, Boonville played Smith-Cotton about as close as they could while trailing 4-0 at the break.
