Pirates look to repeat in Tri-County Conference

The Boonville Pirates basketball team may have been the surprise of the Tri-County Conference in 2023-24 after finishing 6-0 under head coach Mark Anderson.Although the Pirates captured their first conference title in the TCC since joining in 2018, Anderson knows that repeating this season may be a little more difficult with teams like Blair Oaks, Southern Boone and Hallsville ready to take the top spot. With 25 players suited out in grades 9-12 this season, three of which are returning starters and four returning letterwinners, Anderson said he feels very good about the team this year.

Boonville wrestlers to build off last year’s success

The Boonville Pirates and Lady Pirates wrestling teams will have a lot of new faces on the team in 2024-25 but will also have several key returners under head coach Justin Hahn. While hitting the jackpot last year, with the girls finishing 12-5 overall and boys 12-6, Boonville also qualified a total of nine wrestlers to the state tournament-which made for a busy two days at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. This season, the Pirates will suit out 25 boys for the upcoming season with four returning starters while the Lady Pirates return three starters out of a total of five wrestlers.“This year for the boys, we have Jayden Davis and Clayton Schuster as returning starters and I expect them to make some noise at state,” Hahn said.
