Eula Rosamond Brown Gowan

Eula Rosamond Brown Gowan passed away at Ashley Manor surrounded by her family September 18, 2022. She was born April 30, 1934, in Boonville, MO to Ru-dolph and Pauline Stegner. She married Freeman Brown October 23, 1955. He preceded her in death August 24, 1988. She married Lt. Col. Clarence Gowan June 22, 1997. He preceded her in death April 25, 2009. Eula was a member of Eastern Star, Boonville and Professional Women’s Club, PEO, the EZ Tunes, and the United Church of Christ, where she served as organist for over 60 years. She held various positions, the most recent being in the Circuit Clerk and Recorder’s Office at the Cooper County Courthouse, from where she retired. She leaves behind a daughter Paula (Eddie) Wiemholt of Boonville, her grandchildren Anna Wiemholt (Ava, Grayson, and Vivi Kate Esser) of Boonville, Kathryn (Dr. Raghu) Reddy (Tula Noor and Saii) of Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. Edward “Buddy” Wiemholt III of Columbia, and her dear companion Paul Henry of Boonville. She also leaves two stepsons, Maj. John (Sally) Gowan of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Robert (Awy) Gowan of Captain Cook, Hawaii, and their respective families. Thank you to the staff and residents of Ashley Manor, Joyce Storjahann, Dr. Koch, Judy Luscombe and Hometown Homecare and Hospice for the love and care shown for Eula. Visitation for Eula will be held Wednesday, Septem-ber 21, 2022, at the Evangelical United Church of Christ from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Russ Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in New Franklin. Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Evan-gelical United Church of Christ in Boonville. Wayne W. Simmons

Wayne W. Simmons, 84 of Boonville, Missouri passed away unexpectedly a t the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. Visitation for Wayne wi l l be Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. at Howard Funeral Home. Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Billingsville. Wayne W. Simmons was born February 28, 1938, in Prairie Home to Woodrow and Doris (Meyer) Simmons. Wayne married Bonnie Scott May 10, 1958 and had two children Scott and Jeana. Bonnie preceded him in death September 27, 2010. Wayne married Ramona Serck in 2011. Wayne worked for Boonville Coop for more than 30 years when he retired at 55 he started Simmons Pest Control and was still working and managing the family business. He enjoyed spending time with his family and boating at the Lake of the Ozarks. He was proud of his family and enjoyed traveling, especially to Georgia to see his daughter and grandchildren. Wayne also loved to visit casinos. Wayne loved life and always lived to the fullest, he will be forever missed. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Woodrow and Doris Simmons, brothers Thomas and Robert Simmons, and sisters Linda Simmons and Betty French. He is survived by his wife Ramona of Boonville, MO, son Scott Simmons of Columbia, MO, daughter Jeana (Mike) Stone of Canton, GA, stepchildren Pat Green, Christi (Tim) Carmichael, and Steve (Carrie) Green. He also leaves behind grandchildren Amy Stone Cainion (fiancé Eric Rodriguez), Jason (Aubrey) Stone, Tyler Simmons, Nicholas Simmons, Blake (Melissa) Green, Courtney (Taylor) Book, Lindsey (Andy) Watts, Laura and Maggie Green, Austin, Alyssa and Addison Quinlan, Aaron (Tiffany) and Evan (Kaylee) Carmichael, Taylor, Matt, Jackson, Bailey, and Charley Green, great grandchildren Izabella Cainion, Jack Landon, and Maggie Stone, Lydia and Wally Green, Everett and Laurel Book, and Reese and Lachlan Carmichael. Betty J. Youtsey

Betty J. Youtsey, 74, of Columbia, MO., passed away Saturday evening September 3, 2022, at University Hospital in Columbia. Visitation for Betty will be 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 8 at Howard Funeral Home, with Funeral to begin at 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Betty Jean Youtsey was born September 13, 1947, in Boonville, MO., the daughter of Ernest Eugene Korte and Elsie Hickam Korte. She graduated from Boonville High School in 1965. She married Roy Youtsey on April 3, 1966, at the Wooldridge Baptist Church and remained a member until moving to Columbia. Then attended Woodcrest Chapel in Columbia. She worked for over 30 years as an Administrative Assistant for the University of Missouri Police Department and The Law Enforcement Training Institute until her retirement. She loved to travel with Roy while he was stationed in Germany, she enjoyed fishing, and going to see movies. Watching Michael play baseball was one of her most treasured times. Most of all, Betty loved her family. Her granddaughters, Ava and Lilli, were the light of her life. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Elsie and brother-in-law, Carl Walther. She is survived by her husband Roy of the Home, son, Michael (Angela) Youtsey, sister, Joan Walther, nephew, Jason Walther and granddaughters, Ava and Lilli Youtsey all of Columbia. MO. She will be missed by her friends and all the law enforcement men and women she has known over the years. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wooldridge Baptist Church. Warren G. Owens

Warren G. Owens, 97 years old, died Tuesday, August 23, 2022, shortly after noon at his home in northeast Howell County, Missouri. Upon his wishes, cremation will take place with burial at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri. Warren Guy Owens “Dub” was born September 9, 1924, in Greenbrier, Missouri, the son of David Moore Owens and Bertha Frances Sample. He graduated from Zalma High School as Valedictorian in 1943. He was a veteran of WW2 serving with the 456th Bombardment Group of the 15th Army Air Forces as the Radio Operator on a B-24 Liberator bomber. His crew ran 13 missions out of northern Italy in 1945 and were notably shot down after losing 2 of their 4 engines due to flak, making an emergency landing on the island of Vis in the Adriatic Sea. He pulled several injured crew members out of danger before landing. After radioing over to base for assistance they crossed the Adriatic by boat and essentially were “on vacation” until repairs could be made to their plane. After making repairs, essential members of his crew returned to fly their B-24 off the island of Vis and back to base. They suffered no casualties. Warren was awarded the Silver Star for his actions. Upon returning from the war, he remained with the military only a short time before coming back home to Missouri. He moved to the St. Louis area and lived at the local YMCA for a time in 1950 and also stayed briefly with his sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Cliff Gibbs. He married Doris Jean Holliday on September 27, 1952, in St. Louis and lived at Pine Lawn until November of 1959 when they moved near Portage des Sioux in northeast St. Charles County making their home there for 33 years. Warren was employed by Conductron in the late 1960s before it became a part of McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft in 1971. He retired from McDonnell-Douglas in 1990. Ralph W. Hein

Ralph W. Hein, 92, formerly of Boonville passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Overland Park Regional Hospital. He was born on March 7, 1930 on a farm near Boonville, Missouri, to George and Eunice (Hill) Hein. He farmed with his father until he was drafted into the Marine Corps in 1952. As a young man, Ralph met Mary Ann Cary. He fancied her for quite some time and the pair courted for two years until he proposed to her before he left for the Korean War in 1952 and served in the Marine Corps for two years. On February 9, 1954 he married Mary Ann Cary. The two made their home in Kansas City and surrounding areas for 39 years, raising their one son and two daughters. Ralph worked in the trucking industry for 38 years. He was a handyman who often fixed cars in his younger years, did woodworking and electrical projects and many more. At one point, he designed and helped build a home for the family. He loved any hands on project that included a hammer, nails or lumber. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church. He served many leadership positions within the church from elder, treasurer, etc. His favorite position was Head of Property as he loved taking care of God’s house.
