Betty Jo (Rogers) Niebruegge 1925 2022

Betty Jo (Rogers) Niebruegge, 96, of New Franklin, passed away December 19, 2022 at The Bluffs in Columbia. Betty was born on December 30, 1925 in New Franklin a daughter of Stanley “Hawkshaw” Rogers and Anna Laura Will iams Rogers. She graduated from New Franklin High School in 1942. In 1943 she moved to St. Louis and helped in the war effort working in Quickmill Defense Plant and returned to New Franklin in 1945 where she was employed as a telephone operator. She met her future husband, Herbert “Herb” Niebruegge on his first day home from serving in the Navy in 1946 and they were engaged on Christmas Day in 1946. They married on May 21, 1947 in Lone Elm. Betty and Herb enjoyed hosting many family Thanksgiving dinners and Labor Day barbeques while living in Columbia on Bourn Avenue until moving back to New Franklin in 1983. Betty retired 1984 after thirty-five years as a GTE telephone operator. Betty was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Boonville. She was a participant in CBS Bible Study in Columbia for twenty-five years traveling to Columbia weekly for her Bible study group. Betty was always on the go. She was known as the Banana Lady, spending many years ministering to area nursing home residents by delivering bananas to the residents, which they enjoyed, and praying with and reading to the residents. She also kept active delivering meals on wheels for the local senior center. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy J. Hayes and husband, Mike of Harrisburg; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Rogers of Boonville; a grandson, Scott Robinson of Aiken, SC; and by nieces and nephews, Beverly Rogers, Shirley Lenz, Mike (Debbie) Lenz, James (Pam) Lenz, Kathy (Greg) Tebbenkamp, Dennis (Jean) Lenz as well as numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Larry Wayne Lymer

Larry Wayne Lymer, 82, of Boonville passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. Visitation for Larry will be held at Howard Funeral Home Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Howard Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Larry Wayne Lymer was born June 25, 1940, the son of Wilbur and Lorraine (Tipton) Lymer. He graduated from Boonville High School in 1957. Larry married the love of his life Joyce Elaine Vaughan October 16, 1960, in Clarksburg, Missouri. Larry was a farmer all his life but also owned and operated Lymer Custom Fencing, he was so proud of his business and loved meeting new people. He never met a stranger and everyone he met loved him. Through the years Larry exported livestock to various South American Countries.

Monika Ruth Tanner 4/24/1971 12/9/2022

Monika Tanner, 51, of Boonville, MO passed away Friday, December 9, 2022. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Monika was born April 24, 1971 in Palm Springs, CA where her family would spend their winters. She grew up in Minnesota where she gained a loved for horses; she won several trophies and awards showing her horses. In 1988 she and her family moved to Boonville, MO where she finished out her senior year and graduated in 1989. She continued to show and train horses, competing against William Woods College in Fulton and Stephens College in Columbia. She no longer competed, but still loved to ride her horse, Willy. For the past 26 years she worked for USPS delivering for the Rural Routes around Columbia. She is survived by two daughters, Hannah Lefler of Franklin, TN and Marley Lefler of Boonville; a sister, Ursula (Dan) Bedeaux of Jordan, MN; a brother, Anthony Tanner of Excelsior Springs, MO; her mother, Verena (James) McKinny of Boonville, five nieces, one nephew and a loving extended family. She is also survived by her beloved animals, Willy, Ozzie, Trouble, & Friday. She was preceded in death by her father, Bruno Tanner. Memorial contributions may be made to Sunny Oak Farm Equine Assisted Activities 12551 W Rocheport Gravel Rd, Rocheport, MO 65279. Steven L. Moore 1950 2022

Steven Lynn Moore, 72, of Boonville and formerly of Omaha, NE, passed away at his home on December 12, 2022 Steve was born on June 2, 1950 in Minneapolis, MN a son of the late Eugene Dennis Moore and Betty (Eveland) Moore. He married Judy McQuitty on December 24, 1997 in San Diego, CA. She survives at their home. Steve was a U.S. Army veteran serving honorably during the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Korea. He was an award- winning Honda dealership car salesman in El Cajon, CA and he enjoyed classic muscle cars. His most recent employment included working as an OATS driver in Boonville. His favorite activities included playing his guitar and listening to music from the 1960’s and 70’s, researching family history, genealogy and studying Howard County Missouri history. In addition to his wife, Judy, Steve is survived by a daughter, Meghan Moore; two brothers, Mike Moore (Suzy) and Tom Moore (Sue); two step-daughters, Amber Bradshaw (Bill Harrison) and Ginger Bradshaw; a sister, Barbara Brand; two brothers-in-law, Jim McQuitty (Carolyn) and Chris McQuitty; three grandchildren, Callista, Brandon and Wyatt Moore; two step-grandchildren, Tegan and Caden Harrison; two nieces, Rachael and Melissa and by four nephews, Adam, Alex, Matt and Bryan. He is also survived by his maternal aunt, Carolyn Garrison. In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by a nephew, Mark Moore. Services honoring Steve’s life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, December 30 at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Herma Katherine Porter

Herma Katherine Porter, age 97, of Boonville, MO, formerly of Pilot Grove, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022, at Hartmann Village Assisted Living in Boonville. Herma was born January 18, 1925, in Stratford, TX, a daughter of Walter Phillip and Hulda Charlotte Sophia (Langendoerfer) Gumper, who preceded her in death. She married the love of her life, Cecil Marion Porter on June 22, 1947, in Dalhart, Texas. Cecil preceded her in death on April 4, 2010. Herma grew up in Dalhart, TX, where she graduated from high school. She later moved to Jamestown and Pilot Grove, MO. She was a homemaker until her youngest child was well into school. At that time she went to work at Toastmaster. She worked there for eighteen years. She liked to travel, crochet, embroider, quilt, read, and do volunteer work. She enjoyed putting puzzles together and watching the hummingbirds. Herma was a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ which later became Pilot Grove Community Church. She is survived by four children, Glenn Douglas Porter (Marilyn) of Pilot Grove, MO, Katherine Watring (Mike) of Boonville, MO, Karla Jean Kirrane of Liberty, MO, and Karen Sue Crunk (Wendall) of Lorena, TX; ten grandchildren; and twenty greatgrandchildren.

Louise Shepard

Louise Shepard, 94 of Bloomingdale, IL formerly of Boonville, MO and Carthage, MO. Beloved wife of the late Donald E. Shepard. Loving mother of Judi (Drew) Yaeger and the late Paul/Alix Kasdorf. Dearest grandmother of Rebecca and Sarah Yaeger of Chicago, IL, Clinton H. Loman of Denver, CO., James Harris of Seattle, WA and Amber Dickey of Joplin, MO. Great-grandmother of Justin and Molly Loman, Jordyn Dickey and Gracie Harris. Louise led a very fruitful life as a devoted wife for 65 years to the late Donald, as well as a very successful leader and professional in the business world. She was the treasurer of the American Business Womens Association, Peace Star Chapter, and retired from Southwest Agency in Carthage, MO where she was a business manager. She lived a strong life in faith, and was a member of Carthage Presbyterian Church in Carthage, MO before moving to Chicago in 2012. Private services and interment at Engelwood Cemetery in Clinton, MO.

Gary David Roth, 65, died Thursday, November 24, 2022, in St. Louis, MO. Gary was born March 15, 1957, to John David Roth and Mary Angline “Angie” (Marriott) Lohse of Pilot Grove, Missouri. Gary was proceeded in death, by his parents and two siblings, Johnda Sue (Roth) Fangman and Mathew Timothy Roth and grandparents Frank and Bertie Roth. Gary is survived by his two children, Gary Allen Roth of Kansas City, MO, and Gariann Angilene Roth of Quincey IL. Six brothers, Steve Roth, Mark (Debbie) Roth, Joe Roth, all of Pilot Grove, MO. Michael Roth of Columbia, MO, Jeff (Freda) Lohse of Dover, Kansas, Tim (Nancy) Lohse of Topeka, Kansas two sisters, Sonja Lohse of Auburn, Kansas, and Michelle (Ken) Biondo of St. Louis, MO and step-mother, Mary Louise (McCormick) Roth of New Franklin, MO. Gary was the proud grandfather to Gary Owen Roth and nephew to Frank (Pat) Roth of Kansas City, MO., Ruth Luttrell of Pilot Grove, MO., Carol Easley of Edina, MO., Sara Baker of Pilot Grove, MO. and Cydney (Rick) Head of Kansas City, MO. Gary was a talented dozer operator, huge Kansas City Chiefs fan and a lover of good times. Gary had a quick wit and an infectious, beautiful smile; he was the “keeper of secrets”. He will be remembered for his fun-loving stories and his ability to belt out groovy 70’s tunes. Gary will be greatly missed by all. Patricia Mae Dill

Patricia Mae Dill, 90, of Olathe, Kan., formerly of Pilot Grove, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Villa St. Francis Catholic Care Center in Olathe. Patricia was born August 26, 1932, in Kansas City, Mo., a daughter of Joseph and Ann (Kever) Laughlin. She married the love of her life, Ignatius John Dill on July 7, 1951, in Kansas City. Patricia was raised Roman Catholic. She quilted with the ladies of St. Joseph Parish and filled her time with the St. Joseph Alter Society, including serving as president for several years and organizing and serving funeral dinners. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and enjoyed working bingo on Friday evenings. In addition to raising nine children, she was a babysitter and worked various jobs including Lourdes-St. Regis Credit Union. Pat was an avid quilter. She made quilts for each of her children and 25 grandchildren. She canned vegetables from Iggy’s garden and made wonderful sauerkraut. She was competitive and loved playing cards and games. She also faithfully watched Jeopardy and The Price is Right. She actually appeared on The Price is Right in 2006 and won the Showcase Showdown. She loved to go to the casino with anyone who would go with her, including her grandkids on their 21st birthdays. Pat also was a skilled bingo enthusiast and reprimanded family members if they happened to miss a bingo. She is survived by eight children, Pamela Murphy (Patrick) of Nashville, Tenn., Janice Schuppert (Marty) of Hilton Head Island, S.C., Edward Dill (Deborah) of Tulsa, Okla., Joann Riggs (David) of Leawood, Kan., Mary Weaver (James) of Overland Park, Kan., Rita Schuster (John) of Pilot Grove, Stephen Dill (Janelle) Hilton Head Island, and Vincent Dill of Lansing, Kan.; one brother, Thomas Laughlin; 25 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat- grandchildren; and Shannon Farnsworth.
