Missouri State Fair Announces Youth in Agriculture Scholarship Winners

Missouri State Fair Director Jason Moore announced that 62 youth, selected from Missouri 4-H and FFA State Fair exhibitors, will be awarded scholarships by the Missouri State Fair and the Youth in Agriculture (YIA) committee. These students are seeking higher education at a university/college of their choice and will be recognized on April 24, 2025 during the annual State FFA Convention in Columbia.

Fourth Annual Sippin’ Strollin’ Rockin’ & Rollin’ Set for Saturday, October 18

Mark your calendar! Invite your family and friends! Come join the fun on Saturday, October 18, for the fourth annual Sippin’ Strollin’ Rockin’ & Rollin’ community celebration! Downtown Boonville will be THE place to be for the event that will again be co-sponsored by the Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Friends of the Library for the Boonslick Regional Library—Cooper County Branch. It will feature tastings and sales of a variety of wines, craft beers, and distillery spirits that will be presented by their signature establishments. In addition to the wide variety of distinctive beverages, delicious fare will be provided by local restaurants and well know food trucks from central Missouri that will be located throughout the event area.

During the late 1920s, there was a race to build the world’s tallest building. While the Chrysler Building and 40 Wall Street’s Bank of Manhattan were the main competitors, in August of 1929, GM executive John J. Raskob and former NY Governor Al Smith announced plans for the Empire State Building. At 1,250 feet, the Empire State Building became the world’s tallest building and maintained that title until the World Trade Center was built 40 years later.
