Missouri State Fair Director Jason Moore announced that 62 youth, selected from Missouri 4-H and FFA State Fair exhibitors, will be awarded scholarships by the Missouri State Fair and the Youth in Agriculture (YIA) committee. These students are seeking higher education at a university/college of their choice and will be recognized on April 24, 2025 during the annual State FFA Convention in Columbia.

After certifying the results of the Tuesday, April 8 election, the Board of Education adjourned the current board’s term.

Chief Tim Carmichael was honored with an Open House Retirement Party at the Boonville Fire Station, 500 Bingham Road, on Friday, April 11, from 2-4 pm. Fire fighters, city employees, and friends turned out to thank Chief Carmichael for his 40 years of service to the community, congratulate him on his achievements, and to wish him well in his retirement.

It will feature tastings and sales of a variety of wines, craft beers, and distillery spirits that will be presented by their signature establishments. In addition to the wide variety of distinctive beverages, delicious fare will be provided by local restaurants and well know food trucks from central Missouri that will be located throughout the event area.

BOONVILLE, MO: A Boonville woman has been selected to participate in the prestigious 2025 Greater Missouri Leadership Challenge. Jayme Prenger is the Director of the Missouri Women’s Business Center, a program of Central Missouri Community Action. She is among 33 women across Missouri to be chosen for this year’s cohort.

During the late 1920s, there was a race to build the world’s tallest building. While the Chrysler Building and 40 Wall Street’s Bank of Manhattan were the main competitors, in August of 1929, GM executive John J. Raskob and former NY Governor Al Smith announced plans for the Empire State Building. At 1,250 feet, the Empire State Building became the world’s tallest building and maintained that title until the World Trade Center was built 40 years later.
