They may also know that he and Thomas Jefferson both died on July 4, 1826, the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. But these facts barely scratch the surface of the man who served as our nation’s first Vice President.

Cooper County Detention Center has inmate pass away

On 5/18/2025, an inmate in the Cooper County Detention Center became unresponsive and not breathing. Life saving measures were performed by staff, along with law enforcement and EMS, who arrived a short time later. Despite the efforts to revive the inmate, the individual was pronounced deceased. The Cooper County Coroner’s Office along with the Boonville Police Department were requested to do an investigation into the incident. An autopsy was performed by the Boone County Medical Examiners Office. More information will be released when it is obtained.

Farmers market nutrition programs underway

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. –The Missouri Department of Agriculture has launched the Missouri Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) and WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program (WICFMNP) for the 2025 season. Both programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service and assist low-income recipients in obtaining fresh Missouri Grown produce.
