Cornhole takes off in Cooper County

What started out as a game of cornhole between friends in the backyard, has turned into a fun and philanthropic club in town, Cooper County Cornhole. They officially organized in August of 2020, complete with a board of directors. Scott Gamel serves as President with Blake Lane as Vice President. Krystal Lane holds the positions of Secretary and Treasurer. Jesse Keeran, Johnathan Hopkins, and Alexander Reynolds are currently serving as board members. The club meets every Tuesday evening at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Post #1022 for blind draws at 7:15 pm.

In 1774, the British Parliament passed a series of four laws which were collectively called the Coercive Acts. They were the Boston Port Act, the Massachusetts Government Act, the Administration of Justice Act, and the Quartering Act, but the colonists just called them the Intolerable Acts. The first three were approved by King George III on May 20 and were meant to punish Massachusetts for the Boston Tea Party which had occurred the previous December and to send a warning to the other colonies. But the Quartering Act, which was approved by the king on June 2, applied to all the colonies.

Boonville Police Department CITATIONS: 24 Hour Holds John J. Stegner, 39, of Boonville, was arrested and transported to the Cooper County Detention Center where he was charged with 1ST DEGREE TRESPASSING and STEALING.

Missouri Century Farms

The Missouri Century Farm application process is open from now until May 1st. The Century Farm program took hold in 1975 with the Bicentennial Committees. A University agriculture journalism graduate Jerri Sloan, took on the committee secretary duties and was placed in Columbia at the University of Missouri with the agriculture editors. Dick Lee, an agricultural editor worked with the committee and their ideas. Extension Specialists were asked to work with local agricultural committees to help ensure agriculture had a place in the American Revolution Bicentennial festivals. The project then, and still today with a different name, recognizes family farms that have been owned by the same family for at least 100 years.

Scott, Hardesty crowned queen and king at Riverdell Care Center

Riverdell Care Center in Boonville had its own version of Valentine’s Day on Monday, February 14th. As a tradition at Riverdell Care Center, a queen and king are selected each year for Valentine’s Day. Shirley Scott and George Hardesty were selected as queen and king this year. Saints Peter and Paul School Holds Annual Auction

On Saturday February 26, Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School will host their 36th annual Home and School Auction. This year’s event will be an in-person event and starts at 5:30 pm with a steak dinner available for purchase for just $20. The full menu includes steak, baked potato, salad, green beans, roll, and dessert. During and following dinner there are four different silent auction item tables that will close at various times throughout the evening. A live auction will commence at 7 pm. Over 75 items have been generously donated by the community for the live auction including but not limited to; a 12-weekold Golden Doodle puppy (who will be present at the auction), a two-night stay at Paradise Point in Branson, two Cardinals Club Tickets with a VIP Parking Pass, and a Travis Kelce & Tony Gonzalez Autographed Football Helmet.
