YMCA Helps Feed Our Youth

The Boonslick Heartland YMCA is trying to help ease parents’ grocery burdens. The YMCA is providing a FREE program for the youth in our community. These grab and go meals are available for any youth in Boonville, Glasgow, and any other surrounding communities that wish to participate. The program began in operation in October of 2020. It is scheduled to run through May of 2022, when the school year ends. Funding for the program comes from the Child and Adult Care Food Program through the Department of Health and Senior Services Food Program. On average, over 150 children are served each week. Food Program Director Cyndi Roth stated “filling the gap has been very rewarding. Previously I was unaware of the Cooper County child insecurity rate. I knew there was a gap but it was larger than I thought. We’re happy that we can help fill that gap.”

It took until June 21, 1788, for the Constitution to be ratified. At that time, Congress set elections to take place from Monday, December 15, 1788, through Saturday, January 10, 1789, with the new government to begin on Wednesday, March 4, 1789.
