After the closure of Pinnacle Regional Hospital in January 2020, MU Healthcare announced that it had signed a long-term lease agreement to open a new multi-specialty clinic in Boonville. This 14-000 square-foot facility will feature an urgent care with extended hours, primary care providers, specialty services, X-ray capabilities, imaging, a lab, as well as physical therapy services.
For community residents 55 years of age and older, the Boonslick Heartland YMCA is having a Senior Day on Thursday, June 16 at their building located at 757 Third Street. The YMCA invites everyone to join them for the activities to celebrate area seniors as you are “never too old to learn or play.” Event activities will begin at 9 a.m.
The third full week of June is going to be a busy time for Cooper County. Not only is Boonville’s Heritage Days occurring, but this year, it also features the 107th Annual Prairie Home Fair, which is put on by the Cooper County Agricultural and Mechanical Society.
Bluegill fishing is simple. That’s really why I love it so much. I’ve often said life is stressful, so fishing shouldn’t be. I’m glad there are bass tournaments and the anglers who fish them. Those guys and gals keep the industry humming along and generate huge amounts of funding for conservation. It’s just not for me. I’ll take a cane pole and crickets.
COLUMBIA, Mo. — The University of Missouri spring semester 2022 dean’s list.
A new report finds many Missourians still struggle with food insecurity, and at much higher levels than before the pandemic. Food pantries are seeing demand at 50% over what it was pre-COVID, and 70% of food-pantry clients surveyed by the University of Missouri said they often don’t know where their next meal is coming from.
It was a beautiful day for the 46th Annual Lone Elm Turtle Race. This past Memorial Day there were 176 turtles entered in the race.
The rains this past week have caused problems for area residents. Reported amounts of received precipitation on the night of Tuesday, May 31 ranged from two to five inches inside the city limits.
The statue park at the corner of Main and Morgan Streets got refreshed before heading into the summer months. Plants that were past their prime were removed and new plants were added to take their place. The city employees were sprucing up flower beds all over town toward the end of last week.
