Alro Steel donates $100,000 to SFCC’s capital campaign

Sedalia, Missouri – June 23, 2022 –The State Fair Community College Foundation has received $100,000 from Alro Steel for its Stronger Workforce, Greater Community capital campaign to fund the Olen Howard Workforce Innovation Center. This new building, which opened on June 9, on the Sedalia campus expanded the college’s capacity to meet the growing demand for technical workforce training and strengthen the communities it serves.

Carnival Kings provided the carnival for Heritage Days this year. Located along Second Street, it featured rides, bounce houses, games, and of course fair food.

Heritage Days off to a great start

Kemper Park went to the dogs Thursday evening for the annual Heritage Days Mutt Strut. Hosted by the Boonville Correctional Center’s Puppies for Parole program, the Mutt Strut saw 25 dogs registered for the informal dog show. Canines of all shapes and sizes competed in seven different categories; Most Unique, Most Resembles Owner, Cutest Dog – Small breed, Cutest Dog – Large breed, Best Trick, Best Dressed, and Top Dog. This year, Gerry Rol, Wesley Wells, and Glenda Pratt, all from the Boonville Correctional Center had the difficult task of being the event judges.
