Missouri Department of Agriculture announces grants for specialty crop production

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for funding through the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program. Interested individuals, community organizations and research institutions working to enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops in Missouri should submit their application by Wednesday, July 2.

Bunceton set to celebrate Independence Day

Bunceton’s 4th of July Days will soon be here, and there is something for everyone to enjoy. More items have been added to the festivities since last week. Begin the 4th with a Biscuits & Gravy Breakfast that will be served from 8:00 until 10:30 AM at the Bunceton Lions Club. The Downtown Bunceton Shopping Market that will have vendors of all kinds will be open from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM. While you are downtown, check out the dunking booth and basketball shoot out, ice cream and AC at Salty Hummingbird from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM. A fish fry will be available from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the Car and Bike Show. The vehicles will be judges from noon until 2:00 with the winners being announced at 3:00 PM. BINGO begins at 11:00 AM at Bunceton Lions Club and will continue until 2:00 PM. Kids games such as duck pond, Tic Tac Toe, balloon pop, ring toss, and ball toss will begin downtown at 2:00 PM. If you have an entry for the parade, be at Bunceton School at 3:45 to line up for the parade which begins at 4:00 PM. The pet contest begins downtown at 5:30 PM (registration at 5:15 PM). Dinner will be served at the ball field at 6:00 PM by the Bunceton Summer Ball Association. You will also be entertained by The Kimble Parker Band at Custer’s Grove beginning at 6:00 PM. They will be playing until 11:00 PM. And you can get into a game of corn hole at Custer’s Grove from 6 to 9 PM. Stay around for the fireworks display which will be held over the ball field at 9:00 PM. The live band will continue to perform until 11:00 PM

Boonslick Regional Library’s Outreach Services, BRLMobile2GO, provides outreach to Pettis, Benton and Cooper counties to residents who are not able to visit a library location, including senior centers, day cares, schools, community centers and remote areas. BRL2GO provides free Wi-Fi access to rural communities, brings books to community centers, schools and rural areas, delivers books on a schedule each month, brings specifically requested titles or a new collection at each visit, and provides all Outreach Services free of charge. Area Students Graduate from UCM

WARRENSBURG, MO – Area residents were among approximately 2,200 individuals who met graduate and undergraduate degree requirements and were eligible to participate in the University of Central Missouri’s (UCM) 2025 Spring Commencement exercises on Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10 in the Jerry M. Hughes Athletics Center.

Library’s three entrances available for Saturday’s open house

Interior renovations are nearly complete and the public will have an early glimpse of the Library’s new home on the Historic Kemper Campus on Saturday, June 28, from 11 am to 3 pm during the Heritage Days community celebration. With the building’s perimeter lined with chain link fence since early September while the major renovation work was being completed, many residents have questions about access to the building and nearby parking.
