American Association of University Women celebrate woman’s suffrage

After two years of postponement, the Boonville Chapter of the American Association of University Women was finally able to hold their scholarship fundraising luncheon celebrating the 100th anniversary of women gaining the right to vote. The event had been postponed due to COVID. The luncheon was a fundraiser for the organization for their scholarship program. Each year, the AAUW awards a scholarship to a woman who is attending a college or university and majoring in a STEM field.

Missouri River Festival of the Arts a resounding success

The 47th Annual Missouri River Festival of the Arts ended on a high note Saturday, August 27, with multiple standing ovations and thunderous applause as conductor Stephanie Childress led the Missouri River Festival Orchestra performing Beethoven’s 7th Symphony. The Festival featured three nights of world class music and musicians from the Kansas City Philharmonic Orchestra and the St. Louis Symphony, recruited by Artistic Director David Halen and organized by Marilyn Humiston, to deliver the finest in live musical performances in Historic Thespian Hall. Halen, who also serves as Concert Master for the St. Louis Symphony, received his own standing ovation earlier that evening after performing Mozart’s Violin Concerto in D.

Hutchison graduates recruit training

Private Treysen Hutchison is a motivated young man who has been committed to join the Marines since he was a Junior at Boonville High School. He was drawn to the Challenge and Brotherhood that the Marine Corps provides. This young man has grown to be a leader of other young men and women aspiring to be Marines while awaiting to go to Recruit Training. He has lived up to the Core Values of Honor, Courage and Commitment which helped him complete the Crucible and earn the title of United States Marine.
