Mustard Seed Food Pantry distribution set for Sept. 15 at PH United Methodist Church

The next Mustard Seed Food Pantry distribution will be on Thursday, September 15th at the Prairie Home United Methodist Church basement from 4-6 p.m. The pantry is open to residents from Cooper and surrounding counties. To receive free food, please bring a photo ID, proof of address (utility bill etc.), and social security cards for each member of the household. The church is located at 540 Hwy Drive (Highway 87) in Prairie Home, Missouri 65068.

Back to the Farm is a success

A larger than anticipated crowed came out to experience the 59th annual Back to the Farm Reunion hosted by the Missouri River Valley Steam Engine Association. Held that Brady Showgrounds on Highway 179, the event lasted four days from September 8 – September 11.

American Association of University Women celebrate woman’s suffrage

After two years of postponement, the Boonville Chapter of the American Association of University Women was finally able to hold their scholarship fundraising luncheon celebrating the 100th anniversary of women gaining the right to vote. The event had been postponed due to COVID. The luncheon was a fundraiser for the organization for their scholarship program. Each year, the AAUW awards a scholarship to a woman who is attending a college or university and majoring in a STEM field.

The Bill of Rights

When the Constitutional Convention was finishing their work in 1787, George Mason, a delegate from Virginia, said the Constitution should include a “bill of inalienable rights.” His suggestion was rejected by the other delegates, and Mason protested by refusing to sign the Constitution.
