Susan Twitchell has tendered her resignation as Interim Cooper County Clerk to the Cooper County Commissioners. Twitchell was appointed as interim clerk by the commissioners on August 31, following the resignation of former County Clerk Sarah Herman.

Join University of Missouri Extension a virtual Annie’s Project course! Annie’s Project provides women with education in production, market, financial, legal and human risk management. Participants will attend a weekly 2.5 hour live interactive online session via Zoom and complete self-paced activities and videos. In total, participants will receive 18 hours of risk management education. The course will be offered on Tuesdays, October 18 – November 22 from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. (CDT). The choice of president falls to the House of Representatives and the choice of vice president falls to the Senate. This has only happened three times in American history. The House elected Thomas Jefferson in the election of 1800 and John Quincy Adams in 1824. The Senate elected the Vice President in the election of 1836.
The Prairie Home School took 4-12th graders to the St.Louis Zoo on Wednesday, October 5th. It was an EOC/MAP incentive trip. The children enjoyed a day full of animals, train rides, and fun with friends. Thursday activities included a trip to State Technical College of Missouri. The 11th and 1th grade students toured campus and learned about everything Linn State had to offer. Also, 4th, 5th and 6th grade students had a paper chain making contest. They were given 1 sheet of paper, scissors and tape. Working with a partner they were challenged to see who could make the longest paper chain.

Project Lead the Way is a curriculum enhancement program that is a transformative learning experience for both students and teachers. It was created to give access to real-world, handson, learning activities for students of all ages so they feel empowered to be better equipped to handle similar challenges in their future whether that be as enrolled in college, employed in industry, or enlisted in a military service branch.
In mid-May of this year, local barbeque legend Terry Smith entered his newest barbecue sauce, K.C. Pitmaster in the American Royal World Series of Barbeque Sauce Contest.
The service clubs in town teamed up in September to hold a food drive supporting local food pantries. The national offices for Kiwanis International, Lions Club International, and Rotary International sent information to local clubs asking them to work together on a collaborative project of their choosing.
