“A Mid-Summer’s Eve Stroll” through the Library’s soon-to-be new home on July 19th was not only a festive summer soiree hosted by the Friends of the Library, but also a successful launching of an important campaign to help raise funds for needed furnishings and equipment. The Library’s new location at 707 Third Street on the Historic Kemper Campus is a three-story building that is more than twice the size as the current location on Main Street and offers expanded spaces for all collections—children, young adults, and adults—as well as a Community Room, the Uncas McGuire Discovery Center, and much much more.
The start of a new school year means new faces amongst the faculty and staff of the Boonville R-1 School District.

Richard Henry Lee, the seventh of eleven children, was born in Westmoreland County, Virginia, on January 20, 1732 or 1733. Some scholars believe 1732, but the family Bible says 1733. His parents were Colonel Thomas Lee and Hannah Harrison Ludwell Lee. His family background included military officers, diplomats, and legislators. Lee was home tutored until he was sent to England to finish his formal education at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School. He returned to Virginia in 1753 to help his brothers settle the estate of his parents who both died in 1750.
The Prairie Home Pool will be hosting a pitch tournament Saturday September 20th at the Jamestown Community Center in Jamestown Missouri. Registration will be $25.00 per individual or $50 per team. Preregistration should be done beforehand, if possible, by contacting prairiehomeswimmingpool@gmail.com The door will open at 5:00pm with food and alcohol available for purchase. Players and spectators can register for 50/50 raffles and door prizes throughout the night. Games play starts at 6:00pm. There will be a payout for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes.
