Mendez, Langlotz crowned Boonville Courtwarming King and Queen

It was a great night to be a Pirates for Boonville seniors Hayden Mendez and Audrey Langlotz, as they were crowned Homecoming King and Queen during halftime of the Boonville boys game against Southern Boone Friday night at the Windsor gymnasium at Boonville High School. Missouri 4-H State Archery Team Holds Practice at Boonville’s New Archery Range

The Missouri 4-H Shooting Sports State Archery Team recently held their monthly practice at The Shootin’ Shack, a new indoor archery range in Boonville. The 4-H state archery team consists of nine 4-H archers from across the state. The team is made up of four people who shoot recurve bows and four who shoot compound bows, there is also an alternate member who could step up to fill a team member’s position if they were injured or unable to compete. The Missouri 4-H Archery Team was selected by a statewide tryout process in October 2021, and they will travel to Grand Island, Nebraska, to compete in the National 4-H Shooting Sports Championship, which runs from June 26th to July 1st ,2022. In preparation for the national championship, the team spends the eight months between tryouts and the trip to Nebraska practicing both together as a team and individually. The team members and coaches come together at least once a month for a two-day, weekend practice; each of the members also practice on their own as much as they can.

Pilot Grove FBLA Chapter competes at District 6 Contest

The Pilot Grove FBLA Chapter competed at the District 6 FBLA Contest on February 11, 2022 in Moberly. There were 19 schools in attendance with over 400 competitors. Pilot Grove placed in the Top 5 in 29 events with 14 advancing to state competition in April. Connor Streck and Laura Roth retired as District Vice Presidents of Communications and Membership and Elaina Wirths and Emma Sleeper were elected District Vice President of Communications and Secretary for the upcoming school year. The Pilot Grove FBLA chapter adviser is Becky Munden.

Valentine’s Strawberry Cookies

Ingredients: ½ cup unsalted butter softened 3 oz cream cheese (*use full-fat, brick style cream cheese. Not lite, spreadable or whipped.) 2 large eggs 18 oz box strawberry cake mix (*a 15 oz box of cake mix will also work too.) ¾ cup chocolate chips semi-sweet, milk, dark, or white Instuctions: Preheat the oven to 350F degrees.

Apple Butter Snickerdoodles

Ingredients 2 ¾ cups of all-purpose flour ½ teaspoon cream of tarter ½ teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon of salt ¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon ¼ teaspoon of ground nutmeg 1 ¾ cups of sugar, divided ½ cup of unsalted butter, softened 1 large egg, room temperature ½ teaspoon vanilla extract ¾ cup apple butter 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon Instructions Whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, ¼ teaspoon cinnamon, and nutmeg in a medium sized bowl until combined. Combine butter and 1 ½ cups sugar in a large bowl.
