12 BTEC DECA members attend Missouri DECA State Career Development Conference

12 BTEC DECA members attended Missouri DECA State Career Development Conference from March 13th through March 15th in Kansas City, MO. Students listened to a guest speaker, watched a hypnotist show, and competed in their respective competitive events during the three days. All students that attended were respectful, well-mannered, and were competitive within their events. Junior Keira Saulter earned a Top 10 Finalist Medal for her Entrepreneurship Innovation Plan. Sophomore Tanner White earned a 5th place trophy in Principles of Finance.

BTC Bank Donates $10,000 for Cooper County Library Relocation

The fund-raising campaign to relocate the Boonslick Regional Library (BRL) Cooper County Branch in Boonville to the Kemper Campus recently received a big boost to its coffers—a $10,000 donation from BTC Bank. The donation from BTC Bank was given because “We believe the Cooper County Library is such a valuable asset and a tremendous resource for young and old alike,” said Curtis Carter, Boonville Market President of BTC Bank. Carter also noted that “BTC Bank wants to be a catalyst in the community to encourage other businesses, organizations, and individuals throughout Cooper County to support this important project. Knowing that the Library’s relocation has been a vision and dream for some time, we want to help ensure that it becomes a reality very soon.” BTC Bank has 18 locations throughout Missouri and Iowa.

SFCC, Central Methodist University sign Master of Science in Athletic Training agreement

Sedalia, Missouri – March 2, 2022 – On Feb. 22, officials from Central Methodist University and State Fair Community College signed a new agreement that gives students an easy path to a Master of Science in Athletic Training when they begin at SFCC. The signing ceremony was held on SFCC’s Sedalia campus and originally scheduled for Feb. 4 but was rescheduled because of inclement weather.

SLOW COOKER CREAMY CHICKEN SOUP WITH SPINACH POTATO

Ingredients: 2 lbs boneless chicken breasts 1 pound baby potatoes, halved 12 oz of cream cheese (a block and a half) 1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar Cheese 2 cups bone broth or water 2 cups baby Spinach One 1-oz packet of Dry Ranch Seasoning mix 8 oz (220g) bacon crumbles Instuctions: Place 1 1/2 cup of liquid (bone broth or water) at the bottom of your slow cooker. Add the chicken breasts and add the cream cheese on top, along with the cheddar cheese, potatoes, and seasonings.

Warm weather draws a crowd

Adults and children alike took advantage of the beautiful weather on President’s Day and made use of the facilities at the local city parks. The playgrounds were teemed with children as parents tried to encourage young ones to avoid, unsuccessfully in some cases, mud puddles and what remained of the snow piles caused by last week’s winter weather. The walking path at Rolling Hills Park was filled with walkers, both human and canine. “We came to the park to blow off some of the cobwebs from being cooped up this past weekend” one mom stated.
