Saturday’s rainy weather didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of several hundred people who gathered at The Mercantile Event Center in Downtown Boonville for Sippin’ & Strollin’ during the mid-to-late afternoon as well as Rockin’ & Rollin’ into the evening. Organizers of the 4th annual event—the Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Friends of the Library for the Boonslick Regional Library – Cooper County Branch—consulted with Larry Oerly, Cooper County Emergency Management Director, the week before the event and, based on his recommendation, moved Saturday’s activities indoors because of the impending forecast. “We are indebted to Larry and his staff, who followed the weather forecasts and changes all week, for their advice on Thursday about changing our venue to an inside location,” explained event Co-Chair Mary Pat Abele. “It is advice you just cannot ignore for the comfort and safety of everyone involved and those attending,” she added.
