Boonville Pirates basketball coach Mark Anderson called Thursday night’s 73-58 loss to the California Pintos in the semifinal round of the Tri-County Conference Tournament as a wake-up call. While the loss dropped Boonville to 1-1 on the season, Anderson said he felt like the team had a good first quarter but then missed a couple of layups that they should have finished.
The LSE girls eighth grade basketball team had one good game and one not so good Thursday and Friday in the Centralia Middle School Tournament. After beating the Fulton Lady Hornets on Thursday 32-31, the Lady Pirates came back and dropped a clunker Friday night against Centralia by a score of 37-15.
The New Franklin boys and girls basketball teams closed out the Glasgow Invitational Tournament on Saturday by capturing the third place trophy. For the Lady Bulldogs, they defeated the Glasgow Lady Yellowjackets 42-41 to improve to 2-3 on the season.

The Pirates, dropping to 5-4 on the season, trailed Lange 13-8 after one, 29-19 at the half and 39-26 after three quarters of play before rallying with a 45-41 advantage in the final period.
