BOONVILLE ROTARY CLUB PROVIDES SMOKE DETECTORS AND CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS

For several years, the Boonville Rotary Club has provided smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors to the Boonville Fire Department to give to area people in need. Boonville Fire Chief Tim Carmichael and Boonville Lieutenant Darrell Harris also recently gave Rotarians an update on the happenings of the fire department and a look at the new fire truck and apparatus. Lady Pirates capture first in Centralia Tournament

The Boonville Lady Pirates basketball team captured the championship in the Centralia Invitational Tournament Friday night by beating the Macon Tigers in a battle of two state-ranked teams 58-49. The Lady Pirates, improving to 5-1 on the season, dominated the Lady Tigers from the opening tip and led by as much as 16 in the second quarter.

CENTRALIA ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

Boonville's Zoe Davis, Addi Brownfield and Abby Fuemmeler were selected to the Centralia's All-Tournament Team for their play during the week. The Lady Pirates finished 3-0 in the tournament by beating Macon 58-49 for the championship on Friday. CHRIS BOWIE

LSE 7th boys finish third in California Tournament

The LSE boys seventh grade basketball team finished third in the California Tournament on Saturday by beating Russellville 41-17. The Pirates, 8-3 on the season, outscored Russellville 23-2 in the firsttwo quarters and then held a 18-15 advantage in the second half.

Pirate wrestlers win dual against Warrensburg, 42-35

The Boonville Pirates wrestling team recorded wins in six of the 10 matches for a 42-35 win over the Warrensburg Tigers Thursday night in Warrensburg. The Pirates, 2-2 overall, recorded wins by fall in three of the six wins and had two other wins by major decision.

Misleading Missourians is the real aim of the Grain Belt Express

Many Missouri residents living along the proposed “Grain Belt Express” merchant transmission line by Invenergy were surprised to read the blatant misrepresentation of the project in the recent op-ed “The way of the American genius continues to build with the Grain Belt Express” appearing in these pages on Dec. 3. The real shame is the paper wasted ink on this exercise in self-aggrandizement, when the same outdated talking points used by the author can be viewed by anyone directly on Invenergy’s website. We have all seen this song and dance before.
