Bobby Lee Ashford, 88, of Marshall, MO, died Monday, December 20, 2021, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m.

No one died on Missouri roads over New Year holiday

No one was killed in a traffic crash during the 78-hour counting period, for the 2022 New Year holiday which began at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021, and ended at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022. There were no boating crashes or drownings over the 2022 New Year’s holiday counting period, according to a press release from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Traffic Statistics for the 2022 New Year holiday show troopers investigated the following: 406, traffic crashes, 91 injuries from traffic crashes, 0 fatalities from traffic crashes and 94 DWIs.

Marceline man arrested for 27 additional sex offenses

Roger A. Cupp, 54, Marceline, was arrested by the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control on Friday, Dec. 23, for felony sex offenses ranging from Sexual Exploitation of a Minor Child, Child Molestation - 1st Degree, Statutory Sodomy - 1st Degree, and Possession of Child Pornography. He was being held on $100,000 bond.

Vinson leads Pilot Grove past Montrose in W-K Shootout

The Pilot Grove boys basketball team overcame a sluggish start to beat Montrose 91-65 in the SFCC W-K Shootout Tuesday night in Sedalia. The Tigers, 3-4 on the season, trailed Montrose 23-18 after first period’s end but outscored the Bluejays 73-42 for the rest of the game.

Be the “glue” in 2022…

The simple task of unpacking Christmas ornaments is like opening a time capsule. As we pick up each ornament a memory may be attached that takes us back in time or to loved ones and friends we love. Decorating the tree with these ornaments becomes a gift as we enjoy these memories. When my niece, Becca was little we began exchanging ornaments. I began giving her ornaments each year so that when she got married and had a home of her own, she would have some ornaments on her first Christmas tree. I’m going to try to begin the same tradition with my great-nieces and nephews. When I’m long gone, they will have ornaments for their trees from Aunt Pam and hopefully loving memories.
