“We still made our fair of mistakes-a few sloppy turnovers, a few missed rebounds, and a few defensive lapses-but we played well for large stretches of the game and shot it pretty well, which never hurts. It was nice to get a win after playing really poorly in our last game last Friday at Hallsville, and it was a game that scared me a little bit after our kids not physically being in school all week and after a fairly long bus trip. Jackson Johns played really well throughout the game, and we also got really good minutes from Caidyn Hazel, who scored a varsity career high eight points.”
The Boonville Lady Pirates basketball team may have had its most impressive win of the season Thursday night on the road against the Blair Oaks Falcons. Although the two teams met earlier, with Boonville winning 56-49 in overtime in the third-place game in the Tri-County Tournament, the Lady Falcons had a chance to even the score in league play in Wardsville.
Pilot Grove boys’ basketball coach Derek Skaggs talked about how important Friday night’s game was as far as seeding in the district. With both teams splitting games earlier in the season, Skaggs knew if his Tigers could somehow win the game, they could more than likely get the No.
