No. 12 Softball Picked Fifth in SEC Preseason Coaches Poll

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri softball was picked to finish fifth in the Southeastern Conference by the league’s coaches, the conference announced on Monday. The Tigers have never been picked higher than sixth in the SEC since the league moved away from ranking by division in 2014.

James H. Richerson

James H Richerson, 75, of Plattsburg, Missouri, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 31, 2022. He was born on Dec 19, 1946, to Noal Homer & Pauline Caroline (Kraus) Richerson in Boonville, Missouri, where he grew up. Jim was raised in the Catholic church and attended 12 years of catholic school. He attended and graduated college at Central Missouri State University where he met and married the beautiful love of his life, Anna Christina Gunderson, on August 17, 1968. Jim and Anna had two children Jeff Richerson and Christy (Richerson) Hoksbergen. He worked 33 years with Ciba-Geigy as a Chemical Sales Representative before becoming the Purchasing Manager of the Sur-Gro plants.

Medora Jean “Dora” Stroup

Medora Jean “Dora” Stroup, 81, of Nelson, MO passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, MO. Dora was born June 17, 1940 the youngest child of Sherman and Agnes (Davis) Todd in Sedalia, MO and was raised in Clifton City, MO. She attended Otterville High School. On August 3, 1957 she married Robert Stroup who preceded her in death on January 25, 2020. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

Cheesy Fajita Baked Chicken

Ingredients: 4-5 thinly sliced chicken breasts (about 2lbs) 8oz softened cream cheese 1/3 cup salsa 1/2 (1oz) packet of fajita seasoning 2 large bell peppers (sliced) 1-2 cups shredded cheese (Mexican blend or cheddar) Instuctions: Preheat oven to 375 degrees and grease a 9x13 baking dish. Place the chicken onto the bottom of the pan.

Marian Reed, long-time former resident of Boonville, will turn 100 years old on February 22. It also happens on a Tuesday this year, so when you put that altogether in numbers, you get 02/22/22 on the second day of the week.

The diminished big screen still has its charms

I get the basic economics of the movie theater. They get a few bucks from you to walk in the door and then they really stick you with the captive-audience pricing for Cokes and popcorn, as if you were at an airport or football game. There must be an entire MBA class devoted to this highest expression of capitalism, the creation and maintenance of the captive market.

Pirate wrestlers go 1-1 in triangular on Senior Night

Boonville Pirates wrestling coach Justin Hahn said after Thursday night’s triangular against Lexington and MMA that he wasn’t happy, but he wasn’t unhappy, either. With the number of forfeits by every team, Hahn realized that it might by tough for the Pirates to come away with two wins let alone one win.
