Prairie Home boys upend Versailles’ JV 84-68, lose to Calvary Lutheran

To cap off a busy week of basketball, the Bunceton with Prairie Home girls and the Prairie Home with Bunceton boys hosted two JV teams during Homecoming Friday night in Bunceton. After playing the night before on the road against Calvary Lutheran, which resulted in two losses, the Prairie Home boys came back Friday night against Versailles’ JV team to garner an 84-68 victory.

Pilot Grove boys and girls pick up sweep against Madison

The Pilot Grove boys’ and girls’ basketball teams led Madison from start to finish for the sweep Thursday night in CAC action at Madison. The Lady Tigers outscored Madison in all four quarters to improve to 9-12 overall and 4-4 in league play, while the Pilot Grove boys finished with three players in double figures in a 53-22 win over the Panthers.

Boonville wrestlers Travis Dell and Peyton Hahn hold up their brackets after capturing first in the Class 2 District 2 Tournament Saturday at Mexico High School. Dell finished first in the 182 pound weight class by recording all four wins by pins. Hahn, meanwhile, won all three of his matches by pins in the 285 pound weight class. New Franklin drops 2 against Cairo, finishes 1-1 against Sturgeon

The New Franklin boys’ and girls’ basketball teams had high hopes of coming away undefeated against Sturgeon and Cairo Friday and Saturday in CAC action. Although the New Franklin finished 1-1 in two games by beating Sturgeon 71-53 and then losing to Cairo 66-42, the Lady Bulldogs had a little tougher time while dropping both games by the scores of 38-36 and 56-29, respectively.

Pirates bounce back with win against Slater, 76-51

After an emotional loss the night before against the California Pintos in Tri-County Conference action, the Boonville Pirates basketball team turned to its next game less than 24 hours later on Wednesday at home against the Slater Wildcats.
