Up until the fourth quarter Tuesday night in Versailles, the Boonville boys’ basketball team looked to be well on its way to recording its third straight win while leading the Tigers 67-63. But then the fourth quarter happened as Versailles got hot at the right time by outscoring the Pirates 22-9 for an 86-76 victory.

In a much-anticipated game between two CAC rivals separated by less 25 miles, New Franklin boys’ and girls’ basketball teams knew it was make or break time heading in the final week of the regular season and start of the district tournament only days away.

The Bunceton with Prairie Home girls’ basketball team couldn’t have asked for a better start Wednesday night against Jamestown in CCAA action at Jamestown. Although both teams entered the game with 11 combined wins on the season, the Lady Dragons looked to be the better team in the first half while leading the Eagles 13-7 after one and 24-22 at the break.
The New Franklin boys’ and girls’ basketball teams saw a different storm brewing Wednesday night in CAC action at Glasgow. While moving up their games one day to beat the winter weather, the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs couldn’t have predicted what was about to take place less than 24 hours after picking up the sweep Tuesday night at home against Pilot Grove.
The Pilot Grove girls’ basketball team found a way to win Wednesday night on the road against the Slater Wildcats. One day after losing on the road against New Franklin, the Lady Tigers came back to dominate the Lady Wildcats from the second quarter on for a 63-43 victory.
Max Scherzer won’t be starting spring training workouts Wednesday in the warmth of Mets camp in Port St. Lucie, Florida. Marcus Stroman won’t be shaking off rust amid the cactus at the Cubs complex in Mesa, Arizona.
