It’s easier to say we are in physical pain than to say, “My heart is breaking.” Everywhere you look as you go about your lives in town there are people all around you who are experiencing the ravaging effects of grief or worry. It’s the people you shop among at the 10Box and General Dollar store, your friends, work colleagues, social media acquaintances, and for some, the people you may see sitting at your dining table. It could be you. Life is challenging and attempts to break us down sometimes and nothing and no one can protect us from this reality.

Movie props, costumes star in latest Las Vegas attraction

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A new attraction in downtown Las Vegas wants guests to bask in movie magic through a gallery of iconic props including a James Bond American Express card, “Predator” weapons and a hat worn by Johnny Depp in “Alice Through the Looking Glass.”

Boonville JV boys drop 2 in Mexico Tourney

The Boonville boy’s junior varsity basketball team dropped two games in the Mexico Tournament on Saturday, losing to Battle 54-42 and Bowling Green 43-32. The Pirates, 7-9 on the season, trailed Battle by just two points (23-21) in the first half but was outscored 31-21 in the second half to suffer the loss.

Pirates rally in second half to beat Southern Boone, 62-57

The Boonville Pirates basketball team is proof that it doesn’t matter what you do in the first half as long as you play better in the second half. Such was the case Friday night during Courtwarming against the Southern Boone Eagles in Tri-County Conference action at the Windsor gymnasium.

State medalists

Boonville seniors Peyton Hahn and Travis Dell came back with hardware from the state tournament over the weekend at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. Competing in Class 2, Hahn captured first in the 285 pound weight class to finish the season at 43-1 overall, while Dell finished fourth in the 182 pound weight class to close out the season at 42-6.
