Brown hits 1,000th point mark in District opener

Slater knocks off New Franklin boys in district opener, 62-48

The New Franklin boys’ basketball team had to feel pretty good about its chances going into the opening round of the Class 2 District 7 Tournament in New Franklin. After all, the Bulldogs’ first round opponent happened to be a team they had beaten three times previously-all by double figures.

New Franklin girls fall to Salisbury in district semis

The New Franklin girls’ basketball team played Salisbury close for two quarters Tuesday night in the semifinal round of the Class 2 District 7 Tournament in New Franklin. Although the Lady Panthers were able to pull away in the second half for a 51-31 victory, New Franklin was down by just five (26-21) at the halfway point.

Aledo-Louie W. Wood, 83, of Aledo, Illinois, passed away at home on February 16, 2022, with his daughter and granddaughter at his side.

Stephen Wayne Burnham

Longtime Boonville educator and coach, Stephen Wayne Burnham, 79, passed away at his home in Boonville on February 21, 2022 where he was lovingly cared for by his family. Steve was born on the family farm home near Fayette on May 3, 1942 a son of Clarence Harold Burnham and Lanelle Sunderland Burnham.

Lady Pirates share TCC title with Southern Boone

The Boonville girls’ basketball team knew the stakes Tuesday night against Osage in the final regular season game of the 2021-22 season. Win the game and share at least a tie for the Tri-County Conference title with the Southern Boone Eagles.
