After 10 seasons and over 200 victories, Boonville Lady Pirates basketball coach Jaryt Hunziker is moving south after accepting the same position as girls’ basketball coach at School of the Osage. Although the Boonville coach leaves with just one losing season-his first-in the 10 years at Boonville, Hunziker produced some of the Lady Pirates best records in program history with two Final Four appearances by placing third in 2015 and winning the team’s first-ever state title in 2021.

Pilot Grove wins ninth in a row, beats Slater 15-0 in 3 innings

The Pilot Grove baseball team won for the ninth straight game to improve to 10-1 on the season by beating the Slater Wildcats 15-0 in three innings Thursday night in Pilot Grove. Although the game was originally scheduled to be played at Slater, head coach Joe Vossler said field conditions moved the game to Pillot Grove.

Clark leads New Franklin with 2 medals in Westran Relays

New Franklin track coach Adam Quest said Thursday’s Westran Relays were brutal as the Bulldog runners battled strong winds, which made running conditions very difficult. Despite the adverse weather conditions, New Franklin still picked up five place finishers in the relays with Drake Clark placing third in the 200 meter dash in 24.94 seconds and fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.45 meters.

SFCC Athletic Department mourns the loss of longtime head coach

Sedalia, Missouri – April 11, 2022 – Former SFCC Head Basketball Coach Dale Kimberling passed away on Thursday, April 7, at the age of 76. Kimberling launched his collegiate coaching career as head women’s basketball coach at SFCC from 1977-1979. He left to coach at North Central Missouri College from 1979-1987, then coached one year at Missouri Southern State University.

Boonville C-Team picks up split against Smith-Cotton

The Boonville C Baseball Team had mixed results Thursday night at home against Smith-Cotton by winning the first game against the Tigers 6-3 and dropping the second 11-9. In Game 1, Boonville C Team coach Jalen Poindexter said this was the first all-around game of the season.

Elliott performs in national competition in Daytona Beach

Jenna Elliott of Bunceton is a member of the Central Methodist University Eagle Envy Dance Team. They qualified for national competition in Daytona Beach, Florida. They were so outstanding, that they came home as the National Dance Association Champions in the NAIA Hip Hop Division. They also came home with sixth place in the NAIA Jazz Division.

New Franklin gets much needed win against Smithton

The New Franklin baseball team finally had a game go its way Monday night on the road against the Smithton Tigers. After dropping back-toback extra inning ball games last week at the hands of the Cairo Bearcats and Salisbury Panthers, the Bulldogs finally got to breath a sigh of relief with a 11-0 win in five innings against Smithton.
