Leonard breaks 65-year-old record in 800 in Tiger Invitational

Boonville sophomore Rhodes Leonard accomplished a feat that stood for more than 65 years Tuesday during the Smith-Cotton Tiger Invitational in Sedalia. While teetering around 2:00 in the 800 meter run for most of the season, Leonard finally hit that mark on Tuesday by placing first in a time of 2:00.24.

Rock Bridge wins 10-0 in six innings against Boonville

The Boonville Pirates baseball team knew they would have to play near perfect baseball to knock off Class 6 Rock Bridge Monday night in Columbia. After losing to the Bruins just 16 days earlier in the Smith-Cotton Tournament 7-3, the game plan this time around was to jump on Rock Bridge early and let the pitching and defense do their job.

Pirate netters fall to Higginsville on Senior Night, 8-1

The Boonville Pirates tennis team had what head coach Ryan Brimer deemed a “tough loss” Wednesday during Senior-Parent Night against the Higginsville Huskers. While losing the match 8-1 to drop to 3-7 on the season, Brimer said he felt like there was a little bit of fatigue involved.

Pilot Grove wins on walk off in ninth, beats New Franklin 3-2

It came as no surprise that Pilot Grove and New Franklin would play extra innings Wednesday night in Pilot Grove. While pushing the game up one day due to rain forecasted on Thursday, the Tigers and Bulldogs gave the fans everything they wanted and more while battling back and forth for nine innings with Pilot Grove eventually winning in the bottom of the ninth on a play at the plate for a 3-2 victory.

Boonville soccer falls short against Stover, 2-1

Boonville girls’ soccer coach Alec Adair called Tuesday night’s game against Stover as a great opportunity for the Lady Pirates. Although the Boonville girls have had plenty of close matches this season, the game Tuesday against Stover was no different as the Lady Bulldogs squeaked out a 2-1 victory.

Boonville’s C-Team falls to Rock Bridge, 17-0

The Boonville C Baseball Team fell to 4-7 on the season with a 17-0 loss in five innings Monday night against Rock Bridge at Twillman Field in Harley Park. Boonville C Team Coach Jalen Poindexter said it was one of those days where the Pirates could not get anything going offensively or defensively as Rock Bridge no-hit Boonville.

New Franklin MS competes in Bearcat Invitational

The New Franklin boys and girls middle school track teams recorded four first place finishes while competing in the Bearcat Invitational on Monday, April 25 in Cairo. Placing first for New Franklin was Rowan Lemberger in the high jump at 1.35 meters, Skylar Greenwood in the discus at 21.36 meters, Landon Shaw in the high jump at 1.45 meters and Caden Schlotzhauer in the 100 meter dash in a time of 13.14 seconds.

Vinson homers twice in 10-0 win over Sturgeon

The Pilot Grove baseball team picked up where they left off from the weekend after winning 2 of 3 games by beating the Sturgeon Bulldogs 10-0 in CAC action Monday night in Pilot Grove. The Tigers, 13-3 overall and 4-1 in the CAC, scored in four out of the six innings against Sturgeon with two in the first, one in the third, two again in the fifth and five in the sixth to win by the mercy rule.
