With the regular season winding down, the New Franklin boys and girls track teams followed up the CAC Track Meet on Wednesday by competing in the Glasgow Relays just two days later. The Bulldogs will hold two more warm up meets on May 2 at Sweet Springs and May 4 at Glasgow before competing in the Class 1 District 2 Track Meet on Saturday, May 7 at Glasgow High School.
The Boonville Pirates C Baseball Team had another tough opponent on Friday while traveling to Columbia to face the Hickman Kewpies in a single contest. While the Pirates fell to the Kewpies 10-0, head coach Jalen Poindexter said it was also the second straight game where Boonville has lost by a no hit shutout.
New Franklin’s Drake Clark was named high point medalist during the CAC Track Meet Wednesday at Glasgow after finishing first in the 200 meter dash and second in the 100, 400 and long jump to lead the Bulldogs.
New Franklin senior Abby Maupin, a three-sport athlete for the Lady Bulldogs, recently signed a softball letter of intent with Central Methodist University in Fayette. As a four-year starter while playing shortstop, New Franklin softball coach Ross Dowell said Maupin was an outstanding lead off hitter and her getting on base usually led to runs for the Lady Bulldogs.
