Pirate golfers win final regular season match, Espey nabs high point medalist

The Boonville Pirates golf team couldn’t have scripted the end of the season match Thursday at Hail Ridge Golf Course any better. While hosting the Versailles Tigers in the final tune up before districts on Monday, the Pirates not only finished 10 strokes better than Versailles 182-19-2 but also had the meet medalist as freshman Zack Espey shot a 6-under par 41 on the front nine.

Lady Pirates face stiff competition in 8-0 loss to Smith-Cotton

The Boonville girls’ soccer team faced perhaps its stiffest competition of the season Thursday night on the road against the Sedalia Smith-Cotton Tigers. Although the Lady Pirates (0-15) have battled tooth and nail all season long and have been on the threshold of winning their first game numerous times in 2022, Smith-Cotton proved to be to big of a match while leading from start to finish for an 8-0 victory.

New season for teams in Cal Ripken Minor and Major

Cal Ripken President Mike Watts said Saturday’s opening day in Cal Ripken Minor and Major was a wonderful success. With three games in Minor and three in Major for over 12 hours of baseball at the COCOBA Ball Field, Watts said anytime you get all your games in on opening day it has to be a success.

Clark leads the way for New Franklin in Larry Littrell Invitational

The New Franklin boys and girls track team had the perfect tune up before Saturday’s district track meet by competing in the Larry Littrell Invitational Thursday in Glasgow. While the Bulldogs return to Glasgow on Saturday, May 7th for districts, head coach Adam Quest couldn’t have been more pleased with the results after returning with 11 place finishers in the top four.

Pilot Grove JV goes 1-2 in California JV Tournament

The Pilot Grove JV baseball team bounced back from two straight losses to pick up a win against Osage in the California JV Tournament over the weekend. While finishing the tournament at 1-2 overall, Pilot Grove fell to Mexico 12-0 in five innings on Friday and then lost to Tuscumbia 8-0 in the first game on Saturday.
