JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Missouri’s top election official on Wednesday warned that it may be too late to pass new congressional districts for the Aug. 2 primary without causing errors that could undermine confidence in the election.
Boonville freshman golfer Zack Espey accomplished a rare feat Monday during the Class 3 District 4 Tournament at Hodge Park Golf Course in Kansas City. In his first season as a varsity golfer for the Pirates, Espey qualified for the state tournament by finishing in a four-way tie for 20th place with a 23-over par 93.
The Boonville Pirates baseball team couldn’t have picked a better game to close out the conference season Tuesday night on the road against the Versailles Tigers. With the district tournament beginning next week in Odessa, the Pirates had perhaps their best game offensively with 22 runs on 18 hits to beat Versailles 22-4 in four innings.
Playing a No. 1 seed is never easy, especially when that team is undefeated for the season.
For Boonville’s Dakota Troost, the Tri-County Conference Track Meet Monday at Eldon was all about the competition. With the district track meet scheduled Saturday at Montgomery City High School, Troost and the rest of his teammates hope that Monday’s conference meet is just a formality for state.
The New Franklin baseball team closed out the regular season on a winning note Tuesday night on the road against Sedalia Sacred Heart by beating the Gremlins 15-3. The Bulldogs, 12-5 on the season, never trailed in the game against Sacred Heart and plated five runs in the second, eight again in the third and two in the fourth.
With the district soccer tournament beginning Saturday at Mexico High School, the Boonville Lady Pirates soccer team wanted nothing more than to close out the regular season on a winning note Tuesday night at Osage.
Pilot Grove baseball team couldn’t seem to get anything going for the second straight game while losing Tuesday night on the road against Community R-6 2-0. The Tigers, dropping to 15-5 on the season, have now gone 14 innings without a run in their last two ball games.
Tint Shop picked up its first win of the season Wednesday night in Midget League action at Kemper Park by beating Boonville Caterpillar 5-2. Tint Shop did all of its damage it just two innings with three in the third and two in the fourth.
