GKC CPAs, Exchange Bank win in NF LL Girls Softball

In the first game of the season Thursday night in New Franklin Little League girls’ softball, GKC CPAs defeated Shelter Insurance 8-3 in four innings of play. GKC CPAs trailed for only ½ inning as Shelter Insurance took a 1-0 lead in the top half of the second.

W-K Auto edges A-Bow-K 6-4 in Midget League

W-K Auto broke a 4-4- tie with two runs in the top half of the third to beat A-Bow-K 6-4 in Midget League action Friday night at the Midget League Field. W-K Auto, 5-2-1 on the season, opened the game with three runs in the first and one again in the second to go up 4-0.

School Safety and Security is on everyone’s minds

The tragic events at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas last week bring the safety and security of the school buildings in Boonville to the forefront of resident’s minds. While the school year is over, many children in the area are participating in summer school and various school sponsored camps and activities.

Prime Construction blanks Fayette 24-0 in Cal Ripken Major

Prime Construction held little back Monday night against Fayette in Cal Ripken Major at the COCOBA Ball Field. While exploding for eight runs in the top half of the first, Prime Construction came back and plated 14 more runs in the second inning and two more in the third to beat Fayette 24-0 in three innings.

Nadal tops Djokovic in quarterfinal thriller at French Open

PARIS (AP) — Rafael Nadal insists he can’t know for sure whether any match at Roland Garros might be his very last at a place he loves, a place he is loved. For now, if he keeps winning and keeps performing the way he did during his monumental quarterfinal victory over longtime rival Novak Djokovic that began in May and ended in June, Nadal will have more chances to play.
