Dorothy Jean Spence, 95, of Versailles, MO, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was born on July 24, 1926, at New Lebanon (Cooper County) Missouri the daughter of Bennie and Flora (Leap) Spence.

City Council determines street closures for Heritage Days

With Heritage Days right around the corner, the Heritage Days committee has submitted their proposal to the city council to establish street closures for the event. Co-chairs Laura Gramlich and Luke Haller were present at the first meeting in June to discuss and answer questions about which streets would be affected, for when and how long.

Huebert Fiberboard broke a 6-6 tie after two by outscoring Fayette 12-0 over the final two innings for a 18-6 victory Monday night in Cal Ripken Major at Harley Park. Huebert Fiberboard, 7-2 on the season, trailed Fayette 3-0 after one before rallying back with six runs in the top half of the second.

Trailblazers go 1-0-1 against Jamestown in High School League

In the Boonslick High School Softball League Monday night at Rolling Hills Park, Trailblazers beat Jamestown 15-7 in the first game and then tied the Lady Eagles 8-8 in the nightcap. Trailblazers, 1-0-1 on the season, opened the first game with two runs in the first, four again in the second and six in the third to go up 12-0.

A-Bow-K scored three runs in the first inning and then sent five runs across in the third to beat Tint Shop 8-6 in Midget League action Monday night at Kemper Park. A-Bow-K, improving to 6-2 on the season, trailed Tint Shop 1-0 after one half inning before rallying with three runs in the bottom half of the first.

Citizen’s Community Bank scored early and often Wednesday night against Einspahr Construction for a 18-3 victory at Harley Park. CCB, 8-0 on the season, opened the game with 13 runs in the top half of the first and then sent four runs across in the second and one again in the third to win by the mercy rule.

Huebert Fiberboard, dropping to 7-3 on the season, trailed QA.com 8-2 after one and 12-2 after two before adding one run in the top half of the third.

Oser, Chitwoods lead GKC CPAs past Exchange Bank

Edem Oser had one single and one double, and teammates Josie Chitwood and Callie Chitwood each had two singles as GKC CPAs defeated Exchange Bank 10-2 in player pitch in the New Franklin Little League Girls Softball League on Sunday.
