Chamber of Commerce to host fireworks for Independence Day

The Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce will once again host a fireworks display to celebrate Independence Day. The fireworks display will be on Monday, July 4. This year they will once again be held out at the Cooper County Fair Grounds at 16899 Dunkles Drive. The fireworks will be free and open to the public. Gates at the fairgrounds are set to open at 5 p.m. with fireworks beginning at roughly 9:15 p.m. when it’s dark enough to see them well Chamber Associate Mary Hummel stated. The fireworks are funded in part by the capital improvements program tax administered by the City of Boonville through the Local Agency Funding grant program. According to Hummel, Spirit of 76, out of Midway, will shoot off the fireworks. The program will last approximately 20-30 minutes.

Ante up, place your bets and hope

I usually tune out criticisms of the modern mess of humanity that come with phrases such as “late-stage capitalism.” That’s a gussied-up way implying that everyone knows the game is over, the plutocrats are making a killing while they can, and when the rubble is cleared away, we’ll find ourselves in a gentle and just Age of Aquarius.
