Ralph W. Hein

Ralph W. Hein, 92, formerly of Boonville passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Overland Park Regional Hospital. He was born on March 7, 1930 on a farm near Boonville, Missouri, to George and Eunice (Hill) Hein. He farmed with his father until he was drafted into the Marine Corps in 1952. As a young man, Ralph met Mary Ann Cary. He fancied her for quite some time and the pair courted for two years until he proposed to her before he left for the Korean War in 1952 and served in the Marine Corps for two years. On February 9, 1954 he married Mary Ann Cary. The two made their home in Kansas City and surrounding areas for 39 years, raising their one son and two daughters. Ralph worked in the trucking industry for 38 years. He was a handyman who often fixed cars in his younger years, did woodworking and electrical projects and many more. At one point, he designed and helped build a home for the family. He loved any hands on project that included a hammer, nails or lumber. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church. He served many leadership positions within the church from elder, treasurer, etc. His favorite position was Head of Property as he loved taking care of God’s house.

Cindy Buckmaster

On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, Cindy said her last farewell to the Earth peacefully and joined in the hands of Denis Broadman and Frank Moudy. She was born in 1959 in St. Helena and passed away in a com-fort home in Ukiah. She will be missed by relatives and friends.

Leona Darlene Boehm

Leona Darlene Boehm, 83, formerly of Boonville passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Belton Regional Hospital. Visitation for Darlene will be Sunday, August 28, 2022, at Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Howard Funeral Home. Leona Darlene Boehm was born May 13, 1939, the daughter of Roy and Mary (Sumner) Turpin. She married Tom Boehm April 7, 1962, in Sedalia. Darlene was active in Boonville High School Booster club and member of the Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church. Her and her late husband owned and operated the Missouri Fiberglass Company in Pilot Grove. Darlene also worked as a 911 dispatcher and the Cooper County Jail. She was the Presiding Commissioner of Copper County from 1990 to 1992. Darlene retired in 2007 and moved to Foxwood Springs Senior Living in Raymore, MO in 2010. She was very active within the community volunteering at the library and annual fall festival. Darlene loved all her grandchildren, following them in their sporting activities and loved spending time with family and friends. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Leroy Turpin, and grandson Dylan Schrader. She is survived by her children Tom (Lisa) Boehm of Lee’s Summit, Royce (Tisha Shrout) Boehm of Belton, and Sid (Karla) Boehm of Boonville. She also leaves behind grandchildren Brandon Boehm, Austin (Kelli) Boehm, Evan (Ashley) Boehm, Tyler (Chandler) Boehm, Alexa (Jake) Boehm, and Kayleigh (Alyx) Schrader, and great-grandchildren Evalyn Rae Heisler and Charli Marie Boehm. Boonville soccer team ready to start the season fresh in 2022

The Boonville Pirates soccer team knows they have some work to do for the 2022 season under second year coach Alec Adair. After finishing 0-13 overall last year, the Pirate soccer team has started the upcoming season with a clean slate with 18 players suited out for the 2022 season with six returning starters and 13 returning letterwinners.

Neidig to lead young Lady Pirates tennis team in 2022

After closing out the 2021 season at 6-5 overall and 1-0 in the Tri-County Conference, Boonville Lady Pirates tennis coach Melissa Harvey had a sense that 2022 was going to be a rebuilding year. Having lost a plethora of seniors to graduation and not knowing who and how many players would return for the upcoming season, Harvey was going to cross her fingers and hope for the best.
