Lady Pirates pick up first win with three-set sweep against Centralia

Boonville volleyball coach Brittney Lowe used the term “team” to describe the Lady Pirates three-set win Tuesday night on the road against the Centralia Panthers 25-13, 25-18 and 27-25. Although the Lady Pirates still have some catching up to do after dropping their first-two games of the season, Lowe said she was proud with how the girls played against Centralia.

Belstle pitches 1-hitter, Eads goes 2-for-4 in 9-1 win over Cairo

The New Franklin Lady Bulldogs softball team showed no quit Tuesday night at home against the Cairo Bearcats. Although the Bearcats opened the game with one run in the top half of the first, it was all New Franklin after that with nine unanswered runs over the next six innings for a 9-1 victory.

New Franklin edges Cairo 4-3, improves to 5-0 on the season

The New Franklin Bulldogs baseball team picked up its biggest win of the season Tuesday night at home by beating the Cairo Bearcats 4-3. While improving to 5-0 on the season and 1-0 in the CAC, New Franklin head coach Erich Gerding said for a fall baseball game, there was a lot of emotion in this game.

Florence “Winky” Chesnutt Friedrichs, 96, of Pleasant Green, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 3, 2022. She was born on November 17th, 1925, in El Dorado, Arkansas, daughter of Col. Stanley Andrews of Moniteau County, MO, and Florence Vinita Cox of Pettis

Betty J. Youtsey, 74, of Columbia, MO., passed away Saturday evening September 3, 2022, at University Hospital in Columbia. Visitation for Betty will be 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 8 at Howard Funeral Home, with Funeral to begin at 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Betty Jean Youtsey was born September 13, 1947, in Boonville, MO., the daughter of Ernest Eugene Korte and Elsie Hickam Korte. She graduated from Boonville High School in 1965. She married Roy Youtsey on April 3, 1966, at the Wooldridge Baptist Church and remained a member until moving to Columbia. Then attended Woodcrest Chapel in Columbia. She worked for over 30 years as an Administrative Assistant for the University of Missouri Police Department and The Law Enforcement Training Institute until her retirement. She loved to travel with Roy while he was stationed in Germany, she enjoyed fishing, and going to see movies. Watching Michael play baseball was one of her most treasured times. Most of all, Betty loved her family. Her granddaughters, Ava and Lilli, were the light of her life. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Elsie and brother-in-law, Carl Walther. She is survived by her husband Roy of the Home, son, Michael (Angela) Youtsey, sister, Joan Walther, nephew, Jason Walther and granddaughters, Ava and Lilli Youtsey all of Columbia. MO. She will be missed by her friends and all the law enforcement men and women she has known over the years. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wooldridge Baptist Church.
