New Franklin softball coach Samantha Crowley said the Lady Bulldogs finally had their bats wake up in a 13-4 win over the Paris Coyotes Thursday night in Paris. The Lady Bulldogs, 7-5 on the season, never trailed in the game against Paris while plating two runs in each of the second and third inning to go up 4-0.

Lady Pirates win in four sets against Hallsville in TCC

The Boonville Lady Pirates volleyball team won in four sets Thursday night in Tri-County Conference action against the Hallsville Indians 25-13, 26-24, 20-25 and 25-17. Boonville girls’ volleyball coach Brittney Lowe said if the girls could play every set like they did their first set, they will go a long way.

Eula Rosamond Brown Gowan passed away at Ashley Manor surrounded by her family September 18, 2022. She was born April 30, 1934, in Boonville, MO to Ru-dolph and Pauline Stegner. She married Freeman Brown October 23, 1955. He preceded her in death August 24, 1988. She married Lt. Col. Clarence Gowan June 22, 1997. He preceded her in death April 25, 2009. Eula was a member of Eastern Star, Boonville and Professional Women’s Club, PEO, the EZ Tunes, and the United Church of Christ, where she served as organist for over 60 years. She held various positions, the most recent being in the Circuit Clerk and Recorder’s Office at the Cooper County Courthouse, from where she retired. She leaves behind a daughter Paula (Eddie) Wiemholt of Boonville, her grandchildren Anna Wiemholt (Ava, Grayson, and Vivi Kate Esser) of Boonville, Kathryn (Dr. Raghu) Reddy (Tula Noor and Saii) of Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. Edward “Buddy” Wiemholt III of Columbia, and her dear companion Paul Henry of Boonville. She also leaves two stepsons, Maj. John (Sally) Gowan of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Robert (Awy) Gowan of Captain Cook, Hawaii, and their respective families. Thank you to the staff and residents of Ashley Manor, Joyce Storjahann, Dr. Koch, Judy Luscombe and Hometown Homecare and Hospice for the love and care shown for Eula. Visitation for Eula will be held Wednesday, Septem-ber 21, 2022, at the Evangelical United Church of Christ from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Russ Bradshaw officiating.
