The Boonville Lady Pirates softball team didn’t have quite the outcome they were looking for over the weekend while competing in the Carthage Tournament on Friday and Saturday. But considering the teams the Lady Pirates went up against such as Carthage, Ozark, Jefferson City and Mc-Donald County, Boonville head coach Christie Zoeller said the girls will take the lessons they learned and use them to make the team better as they roll into districts.

The New Franklin Lady Bulldogs softball team, fresh off an undefeated conference season, added to its win column Thursday night in the home finale by beating Westran 3-2. The Lady Bulldogs, 17-6 on the season, still has one game left to play in the regular season on Monday, October 10 at La Plata. New Franklin softball coach Samantha Crowley said the girls pulled out another win after a long week with three games in a row. “We made some small mistakes in the field that led to them getting those two runs in the beginning, but we managed to have some good at bats to get runners on,” Crowley said. “We cleaned some things up on defense and were able to hold them and come out with a win. I thought we hit the ball well, but Westran made some plays that kept us from getting more momentum.”
