Boonville Schools obtain safety and security grant

The Boonville R-1 School District is about to get a little more secure thanks to a grant. Assistant Superintendent Fred Smith, Instructional Coach Ellen Tucker, Director of Technology Kevin Carpenter, and Maintenance Director Josh Bird submitted a federal grand to the Department of Justice in June of this year.

B.A.S.S. qualifier tournaments give anglers shot at the big leagues

My buddy Shags should be a tournament bass fisherman. He fishes harder than anyone I know. In his forties, he has the energy of a small child. He’s going to be the first man on the river and likely the last one off. The only problem is Shags loves trout, not bass. Plenty of other anglers, though, pursue bass with a mad passion. Those guys and gals have a huge opportunity ahead of them in 2023.

SFCC plans inauguration for sixth president

Sedalia, Missouri – State Fair Community College will hold a public inauguration for the college’s sixth president, Dr. Brent Bates, at 2 p.m. Oct. 23 in the Stauffacher Center for the Fine Arts Theatre on the Sedalia campus. A reception is planned immediately after the ceremony. The community is invited to attend.

Letter to the Editor: The Fayette City Council has given approval for the Fayette Historic Preservation Commission with assistance from the Friends of Historic Fayette Memorial Pool to apply for a Land and Water Grant through the Department of Natural Resources for the renovation and upgrade of the Fayette Swimming Pool/World War I Memorial. Fayette’s pool is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a City of Fayette Local Historic Landmark.

On October 6, 2021, Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing Corporation announced at a press conference in the Nordyne building on Boonslick Drive that it would be expanding its production with a new plant in Boonville.

Versailles stuns Boonville with fourth quarter rally, wins 21-20

The Boonville Pirates football team may have lost the battle Friday night on the road against the winless Versailles Tigers 21-20. But if you consider that Boonville beat Versailles in almost every statistical category except on the score board, it makes it even harder to swallow knowing that the better team may have let one get away.

Pilot Grove falls short against Jamestown in C1 D5 title game

The Pilot Grove Lady Tigers softball team did exactly what they wanted to do for 4 ½ innings Friday night against Jamestown in the championship game in the Class 1 District 5 Tournament at Leeton. After knocking off top-seeded Leeton 9-7 on Thursday with 13 hits-seven of which went for extra bases-the Lady Tigers wanted to get out to a fast start again on Friday against the Lady Eagles.

Pilot Grove girls win 3rd place game against New Franklin

The New Franklin boys middle school basketball team captured the consolation trophy in the Prairie Home Junior High Tournament by beating Pilot Grove 40-17. The Bulldogs, 2-1 on the season, jumped out to a 17-8 lead at the half against Pilot Grove and then outscored the Tigers 23-9 in the second half for the win.
