Sedalia, Missouri – State Fair Community College will hold a public inauguration for the college’s sixth president, Dr. Brent Bates, at 2 p.m. Oct. 23 in the Stauffacher Center for the Fine Arts Theatre on the Sedalia campus. A reception is planned immediately after the ceremony. The community is invited to attend.

The LSE Pirates eighth grade football team put the hammer down on the Versailles Tigers Saturday in the final game of the 2022 season at Gene Reagan Field in Boonville. After a slow start to the season with ties against Eldon and Hallsville, the Pirates came back to win three out of their next four games by beating California, Osage and Versailles.
A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advisory committee on Thursday voted that the agency should update its recommended immunization schedules to add the COVID-19 vaccine, including to the schedule for children.
The November General Election is drawing near and while it isn’t a Presidential election, there are still several issues and elected offices on the ballot to be determined. There are four amendments and one constitutional convention question on which voters will decide, listed on the ballot.
All Boonville soccer coach Alec Adair wanted was a chance Tuesday against Missouri Military Academy. After giving up the game’s only goal in the first half at the 26 minute mark, Adair felt the Pirates still had a chance to win the game with 40 minutes left to play.
The Boonville Lady Pirates golf team finished Tuesday’s state tournament at Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar right where the started after Day 1: third place. After facing a high temperature of 49 and wind on Monday, the Lady Pirates came back with a little better day on Tuesday as the temperatures reached a high of 51.
New Franklin’s Stella Matyas finished 29th out of 71 runners in a time of 25:11 while competing in the Robert Kelsey Invitational Monday in Salisbury. Matyas will compete next in the Class 1 District 3 CC Meet on October 29 at Fulton High School.
The Boonville boys and girls cross-country team closed out the regular season on Tuesday while competing in the Mexico CC Invitational. With the district tournament set to begin on Saturday, Oct.
