The Pilot Grove boys middle school basketball team raised its season record to 4-6 by beating Madison 39-17 Tuesday night in the consolation semifinals in the CAC Tournament in Sturgeon. The Tigers never trailed at the end of each quarter against Madison and led 9-4 after one, 14-12 at the half and 22-15 after three quarters of play.

The Clear Creek Knights of Columbus held its 42nd annual slow pitch tournament with 11 teams playing in the extreme heat at the Pilot Grove ball diamond. Attendance for all of the games was great in spite of the extreme heat, and the food was delicious as always.

The Boonville Lady Pirates volleyball team had plenty of reasons for wanting to beat Southern Boone Thursday night in the opening round of the Class 3 District 8 Tournament at California High School. After losing in three straight sets back on August 30 in the season/ conference opener in Boonville, the Lady Pirates also split with the Eagles in the Eldon Tournament on October 8.
