Tigers look to be competitive for 2022-23 season

Pilot Grove boys’ basketball coach Casey Opfer likes what he see so far with the Tigers in 2022-23. With three starters and five returning letterwinners back for the upcoming season, Opfer said he feels like this team can compete most nights and is excited for the challenge of competing in this conference.

Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign is underway

The familiar sight of a red kettle and the sounds of bells ringing are once again present not only in Boonville, but around country. The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign has kicked off for the 2022 season.

Runyon sees potential in Lady Pirates basketball team in 2022-23

For the first time in 11 years, the Boonville Lady Pirates basketball team will begin the season with a new coach roaming the sidelines for the 2022-23 season. After watching former head coach Jaryt Hunziker do his magic while leading Boonville to two Final Fours-capturing the state title in 20221-the Lady Pirates will have new coach leading the charge in Jared Runyon.

Operation Christmas Child is in full swing

Churches throughout the community have been collecting items all year to fill shoeboxes for Samaritan’s Purse, otherwise known as Operation Christmas Child. “Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ. The organization serves the Church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Boonville R-1 school district breaks out inclement weather policies

The snowfall earlier this week led to the Boonville R-1 School District breaking out their inclement weather guide early this year. The Boonville R-1 School District sent out their Inclement Weather Guide to district parents and students Monday evening to remind them of the policies in place when bad weather strikes.

Class 3 quarterfinals: Sat., Nov. 19th, 1:00 p.m.

Boonville senior Jackson Johns will lead the Pirates this coming Saturday in a Class 3 quarterfinal game against Reeds Springs at Gene Reagan Field in Boonville, starting at 1 p.m. The Pirates enter the game at 8-4 on the season while Reeds Springs is 9-2. Boonville advanced to the quarterfinal round by beating Moberly 28-13 for the district title last Friday in Moberly. The win was Boonville’s first district title in 11 years. The winner of Saturday’s game will advance to the semifinal round on Saturday, Nov. 26 against the winner of Sullivan or St. Charles West.
