New Franklin boys and girls win season opener against La Plata

The New Franklin boys and girls basketball teams couldn’t have had a better season opener on Saturday by beating the La Plata Bulldogs 7922 and 47-42, respectively. For the New Franklin boys, they jumped out to a 47-17 halftime lead and then outscored La Plata 32-5 in the second half for the win.

New Franklin celebrates Thanksgiving

The New Franklin Public School invited the community to come and celebrate Thanksgiving with them. Members of the New Franklin community gathered on Thursday, November 17 at the elementary school to eat and celebrate Thanksgiving.

Howard/Cooper Regional Port Authority speaks to ACCR

John Sponaugle and Amanda Schuster attended the Association of Cooper County Republicans monthly meeting on Saturday, November 19. They addressed the location and workings of the Howard/Cooper Regional Port Authority. Located in the middle of Missouri, it has seen much improvement over the years and will continue to do so. There are 35 prime industrial acres available for development.

Cooper County is a childcare desert

For parents and guardians of young children, finding childcare can be a challenge as the number of childcare facilities has decreased in recent years. Representatives Tim Taylor and Kurtis Gregory from the Missouri House of Representatives met with Robin Schelp, Director of the Policy and Advocacy for Kids Win Missouri to learn more about the lack of childcare in Central Missouri.

Anderson is cautiously optimistic about Pirates basketball team

Boonville boys’ basketball coach Mark Anderson used the word “cautiously optimistic” when referring to the 2022-23 Pirates basketball team. With three returning starters and eight returning letterwinners stepping out on the court this season for the Pirates, you can see why Anderson is anxious to get the season started but also optimistic about what the 202223 season has in-store for his team.

Tigers look to be competitive for 2022-23 season

Pilot Grove boys’ basketball coach Casey Opfer likes what he see so far with the Tigers in 2022-23. With three starters and five returning letterwinners back for the upcoming season, Opfer said he feels like this team can compete most nights and is excited for the challenge of competing in this conference.
