LSE 8th girls beat Fulton, boys lose 42-36

The LSE girls’ eighth grade basketball team outscored Fulton 11-1 in the second quarter and never looked back, beating the Lady Hornets 35-28 Wednesday night in the Centralia Tournament. The LSE boys eighth grade basketball team fell in a tight game against Fulton 42-36.

10 LSE wrestlers finish 2-0 in Osage Quad

LSE Pirates wrestling coach Christian Stock expected the unexpected from his wrestlers after coming off Thanksgiving break Tuesday night on the road at the Osage quad. As it turned out, Stock may have been surprised as 10 LSE wrestlers finished the night undefeated in two matches.

Louise Shepard

Louise Shepard, 94 of Bloomingdale, IL formerly of Boonville, MO and Carthage, MO. Beloved wife of the late Donald E. Shepard. Loving mother of Judi (Drew) Yaeger and the late Paul/Alix Kasdorf. Dearest grandmother of Rebecca and Sarah Yaeger of Chicago, IL, Clinton H. Loman of Denver, CO., James Harris of Seattle, WA and Amber Dickey of Joplin, MO. Great-grandmother of Justin and Molly Loman, Jordyn Dickey and Gracie Harris. Louise led a very fruitful life as a devoted wife for 65 years to the late Donald, as well as a very successful leader and professional in the business world. She was the treasurer of the American Business Womens Association, Peace Star Chapter, and retired from Southwest Agency in Carthage, MO where she was a business manager. She lived a strong life in faith, and was a member of Carthage Presbyterian Church in Carthage, MO before moving to Chicago in 2012. Private services and interment at Engelwood Cemetery in Clinton, MO.

Gary David Roth

Gary David Roth, 65, died Thursday, November 24, 2022, in St. Louis, MO. Gary was born March 15, 1957, to John David Roth and Mary Angline “Angie” (Marriott) Lohse of Pilot Grove, Missouri. Gary was proceeded in death, by his parents and two siblings, Johnda Sue (Roth) Fangman and Mathew Timothy Roth and grandparents Frank and Bertie Roth. Gary is survived by his two children, Gary Allen Roth of Kansas City, MO, and Gariann Angilene Roth of Quincey IL. Six brothers, Steve Roth, Mark (Debbie) Roth, Joe Roth, all of Pilot Grove, MO. Michael Roth of Columbia, MO, Jeff (Freda) Lohse of Dover, Kansas, Tim (Nancy) Lohse of Topeka, Kansas two sisters, Sonja Lohse of Auburn, Kansas, and Michelle (Ken) Biondo of St. Louis, MO and step-mother, Mary Louise (McCormick) Roth of New Franklin, MO. Gary was the proud grandfather to Gary Owen Roth and nephew to Frank (Pat) Roth of Kansas City, MO., Ruth Luttrell of Pilot Grove, MO., Carol Easley of Edina, MO., Sara Baker of Pilot Grove, MO. and Cydney (Rick) Head of Kansas City, MO. Gary was a talented dozer operator, huge Kansas City Chiefs fan and a lover of good times. Gary had a quick wit and an infectious, beautiful smile; he was the “keeper of secrets”. He will be remembered for his fun-loving stories and his ability to belt out groovy 70’s tunes. Gary will be greatly missed by all. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the American Heart Association or Toys for Tots Campaign.

Patricia Mae Dill

Patricia Mae Dill, 90, of Olathe, Kan., formerly of Pilot Grove, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at Villa St. Francis Catholic Care Center in Olathe. Patricia was born August 26, 1932, in Kansas City, Mo., a daughter of Joseph and Ann (Kever) Laughlin. She married the love of her life, Ignatius John Dill on July 7, 1951, in Kansas City. Patricia was raised Roman Catholic. She quilted with the ladies of St. Joseph Parish and filled her time with the St. Joseph Alter Society, including serving as president for several years and organizing and serving funeral dinners. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and enjoyed working bingo on Friday evenings. In addition to raising nine children, she was a babysitter and worked various jobs including Lourdes-St. Regis Credit Union. Pat was an avid quilter. She made quilts for each of her children and 25 grandchildren. She canned vegetables from Iggy’s garden and made wonderful sauerkraut. She was competitive and loved playing cards and games. She also faithfully watched Jeopardy and The Price is Right. She actually appeared on The Price is Right in 2006 and won the Showcase Showdown. She loved to go to the casino with anyone who would go with her, including her grandkids on their 21st birthdays. Pat also was a skilled bingo enthusiast and reprimanded family members if they happened to miss a bingo. She is survived by eight children, Pamela Murphy (Patrick) of Nashville, Tenn., Janice Schuppert (Marty) of Hilton Head Island, S.C., Edward Dill (Deborah) of Tulsa, Okla., Joann Riggs (David) of Leawood, Kan., Mary Weaver (James) of Overland Park, Kan., Rita Schuster (John) of Pilot Grove, Stephen Dill (Janelle) Hilton Head Island, and Vincent Dill of Lansing, Kan.; one brother, Thomas Laughlin; 25 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat- grandchildren; and Shannon Farnsworth. Tennille Langdon 1977 – 2022

Tennille Langdon, 45, passed away November 27, 2022, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia after a three-year battle with cancer. Teri Tennille Langdon was born May 30, 1977, in Columbia, Mo., a daughter to Roy Langdon and Terri (Rohlfing) Anderson. She attended and graduated from Fayette High School with the class of 1995. Tennille furthered her education earning a bachelor’s degree from Central Methodist University in Biology and Environmental Sciences. She then went on to attain a Master of Arts in Management from Lindenwood University. Throughout her career, Tennille worked as an admissions director for several higher education institutions. It was a job she enjoyed doing for 15 years, until her health rendered her unable. Tennille was an avid animal lover. She had a heart of gold and was always willing to give a helping hand to those in need. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, cousin and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her son, Cory Langdon Petersen of Boonville, Mo.; father, Roy (Kathleen) Langdon of Boonville; mother, Terri (Larry) Anderson of Fayette, Mo.; sister, Kristen (Michael Tricoci) Langdon of Covington, Ind.; two step-sisters, Morgan Sprigg of Covington and Amy Valencia of Fayette; step-brother, Nathan Anderson; three aunts, Lonni Kay Marsh of Fayette, Vicki Muller of Springfield, Mo. and Ramona Murry of Columbia, Mo.; Cory’s father, Cory Petersen; lifelong friend, Edward Turk; and seven nieces and nephews, Michael-Weyland Langdon Tricoci, Ripley-Ruth Langdon Tricoci, Davis, Ava, and Anna Valencia, and Avery and Riley Anderson; and cousin, Dwight Marsh. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Arthur and Ruth Rohlfing, her paternal grandparents, John and Merl Langdon, and a nephew, Cash Valencia.
