Lights of Love lit at Roslyn Heights

The Lights of Love tree at Roslyn Heights was lit for the holiday season on Sunday, December 4. The Missouri State Society Daughters of the American Revolution held a tree lighting ceremony on Sunday evening to officially light the patriotic Lights of Love tree on the front lawn of Roslyn Heights on Main Street.

Pirates fall short against Moberly Spartans, 38-37

The Boonville boys’ ninth grade basketball team dropped its second game in the Mexico Tournament Wednesday night, losing to the Moberly Spartans 38-37. The Pirates, 3-2 on the season, trailed Moberly by just one (1514) at the half before rallying back with a 19-12 advantage in the third quarter to go up 33-27.

Herma Katherine Porter

Herma Katherine Porter, age 97, of Boonville, MO, formerly of Pilot Grove, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022, at Hartmann Village Assisted Living in Boonville. Herma was born January 18, 1925, in Stratford, TX, a daughter of Walter Phillip and Hulda Charlotte Sophia (Langendoerfer) Gumper, who preceded her in death. She married the love of her life, Cecil Marion Porter on June 22, 1947, in Dalhart, Texas. Cecil preceded her in death on April 4, 2010. Herma grew up in Dalhart, TX, where she graduated from high school. She later moved to Jamestown and Pilot Grove, MO. She was a homemaker until her youngest child was well into school. At that time she went to work at Toastmaster. She worked there for eighteen years. She liked to travel, crochet, embroider, quilt, read, and do volunteer work. She enjoyed putting puzzles together and watching the hummingbirds. Herma was a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ which later became Pilot Grove Community Church. She is survived by four children, Glenn Douglas Porter (Marilyn) of Pilot Grove, MO, Katherine Watring (Mike) of Boonville, MO, Karla Jean Kirrane of Liberty, MO, and Karen Sue Crunk (Wendall) of Lorena, TX; ten grandchildren; and twenty greatgrandchildren.
