Hawaii remembrance draws handful of Pearl Harbor survivors

PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii (AP) — A handful of centenarian survivors of the attack on Pearl Harbor joined about 2,500 members of the public at the scene of the Japanese bombing on Wednesday to commemorate those who perished 81 years ago. The audience sat quietly during a moment of silence at 7:55 a.m., the same time the attack began on Dec. 7, 1941.

Lights of Love lit at Roslyn Heights

The Lights of Love tree at Roslyn Heights was lit for the holiday season on Sunday, December 4. The Missouri State Society Daughters of the American Revolution held a tree lighting ceremony on Sunday evening to officially light the patriotic Lights of Love tree on the front lawn of Roslyn Heights on Main Street.

The Boonville Lady Pirates basketball team continued its offensive struggles in the Centralia Tournament Wednesday night by losing to the Macon Tigers in the consolation semifinals 51-45. The Lady Pirates, dropping to 2-3 on the season, trailed Macon 16-13 after first period’s end before rallying back with a 8-5 advantage in the second quarter to go up at the half 24-18.

Lammers scores 21, Sleeper 10 in 50-34 win over Sturgeon in PG Classic

Marci Lammers scored a game-high 21 points, and teammate Emma Sleeper tossed in 10 as the Pilot Grove girls’ basketball team defeated Sturgeon Wednesday night in the Pilot Grove Classic. The Lady Tigers, 5-0 on the season, outscored Sturgeon 31-19 in the first half and then came out slow in the third quarter as the Lady Bulldogs rallied back with a 10-7 advantage.
