The Boonville Pirates wrestling team had its best finish of the season while competing in the Versailles Tournament on Saturday. While facing five out of the eight teams in the tournament, the Boonville Pirates wrestling team wound up finishing eighth 28 teams, which included several JV, B and C teams.

The New Franklin boys’ and girls’ basketball teams couldn’t have had a better start in the conference opener Friday night at Madison. While the Lady Bulldogs defeated Madison 49-20, the New Franklin boys also led the Panthers from start to finish for a 87-11 victory.

The Pilot Grove boys’ basketball team fell in the third place game in the Pilot Grove Tiger Classic on Saturday by losing to the Higbee Tigers 68-46. Pilot Grove, dropping to 2-4 on the season, trailed Higbee 26-18 at the half and 50-36 after three quarters of play.
The Boonville boys ninth grade basketball team finished seventh in the Mexico Freshmen Tournament on Saturday by beating the Hannibal Pirates 53-18. Boonville, 3-2 on the season, dominated Hannibal from the opening tip and took a 16-4 lead after one and a 21-11 advantage at the half.
The LSE wrestling team had its best finish of the season Saturday in the Carrollton Tournament with five first place finishers and five second place finishes. LSE wrestling coach Christian Stock said a total of 17 teams and around 250 wrestlers were present for the tournament.
