LSE 7th-8th girls drop two games against Fayette

The LSE girls’ seventh and eighth grade basketball teams dropped two games Thursday night at home against the Fayette Lady Falcons 24-20 and 39-28, respectively. In the eighth grade game, the Lady Pirates 17-10 trailed at the half but rallied back with a 10-6 advantage in the third quarter to cut the lead to three at 23-20.

LSE 7th-8th boys win big over Fayette

The LSE boys’ seventh and eighth grade basketball teams led Fayette from start to finish Thursday night on the road to win 5322 and 71-16, respectively. In the seventh grade game, the Pirates jumped out to a 30-14 halftime lead against Fayette and then outscored the Falcons 23-8 in the second half.

Larry Wayne Lymer

Larry Wayne Lymer, 82, of Boonville passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. Visitation for Larry will be held at Howard Funeral Home Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Howard Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Larry Wayne Lymer was born June 25, 1940, the son of Wilbur and Lorraine (Tipton) Lymer. He graduated from Boonville High School in 1957. Larry married the love of his life Joyce Elaine Vaughan October 16, 1960, in Clarksburg, Missouri. Larry was a farmer all his life but also owned and operated Lymer Custom Fencing, he was so proud of his business and loved meeting new people. He never met a stranger and everyone he met loved him. Through the years Larry exported livestock to various South American Countries.

Monika Tanner, 51, of Boonville, MO passed away Friday, December 9, 2022. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Monika was born April 24, 1971 in Palm Springs, CA where her family would spend their winters. She grew up in Minnesota where she gained a loved for horses; she won several trophies and awards showing her horses. In 1988 she and her family moved to Boonville, MO where she finished out her senior year and graduated in 1989. She continued to show and train horses, competing against William Woods College in Fulton and Stephens College in Columbia. She no longer competed, but still loved to ride her horse, Willy. For the past 26 years she worked for USPS delivering for the Rural Routes around Columbia. She is survived by two daughters, Hannah Lefler of Franklin, TN and Marley Lefler of Boonville; a sister, Ursula (Dan) Bedeaux of Jordan, MN; a brother, Anthony Tanner of Excelsior Springs, MO; her mother, Verena (James) McKinny of Boonville, five nieces, one nephew and a loving extended family. She is also survived by her beloved animals, Willy, Ozzie, Trouble, & Friday. She was preceded in death by her father, Bruno Tanner. Memorial contributions may be made to Sunny Oak Farm Equine Assisted Activities 12551 W Rocheport Gravel Rd, Rocheport, MO 65279. Arrangements are under the care of William Wood Funeral Home in Boonville.

September Event Benefits Chamber and Library

Warm memories of a sunny September Saturday were rekindled when the final report from Sippin’ Strollin’ Rockin’ & Rollin’ was recently released. The festive event held in Downtown Boonville on September 24 was co-sponsored by the Boonville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Cooper County Branch of Boonslick Regional Library. It featured 17 wineries, breweries, and distilleries that lined the 300 and 400 blocks of Main Street and provided samples of their unique beverages. A concert by C. Rock City followed in the evening. The proceeds from the event totaled $12,456.83, which will be divided equally between the co-sponsors and will benefit Chamber projects and the Library’s relocation to its soon-to-be new home on the Kemper Campus.
