Main Street mural to be restored

The Main Street Makeover committee has received a grant to restore the mural on the Main Street Diner. Cheryl Gates, Chair of the Main Street Makeover committee said they received a $2,500 grant from the Missouri Humanities Council for restoration of the mural that adorns the North wall of the Main Street Diner at the corner of Main and High Streets.

Katie Ledecky earns AP female athlete of year for 2nd time

A change of scenery worked out just fine for Katie Ledecky. Shifting coasts and coaches after last summer’s Tokyo Olympics, the American swimmer turned in another stellar performance at the world championships, set a pair of world records and capped 2022 as The Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year, selected by a panel of 40 sports writers and editors from news outlets across the country.

Neidig signs letter of intent in tennis at Drury University

It didn’t come as a surprise that Boonville senior Emma Neidig would sign a national letter of intent last Friday with Drury University in Springfield. As the winningest tennis player in Lady Pirate history, Neidig said she chose Drury because they were ranked 17th in the nation last year for Division II schools and is top of the GLVC.

Attorney General Schmitt Files Lawsuit Against Propane Gas Supplier Gygr-Gas

On Thursday, December 22, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt announced that his office had filed a lawsuit against Cooper County propane gas supplier, Gygr-Gas. The lawsuit alleges that Gygr-Gas abruptly closed in the cold winter months of late 2022, failed to notify its customers that it would stop making the propane deliveries they depended on, and failed to refund customer prepayments for propane gas.
